I have some difficulties tolerating milk. I can drink milk plain out of the jug any time I want to, sans complications. However, whenever I mix the milk with anything (in a shake or even over cereal) I become very ill. I can eat ice cream, but not fruit ice cream. Chocolate or other flavors are fine. My stomach becomes very sour, and I have wicked flatulence and diarrhea whenever I have milk mixed with other things. It isn't the freshness of the milk, either. I throw out milk about a day before the Sell By date, if it lasts that long. Normal milk (on its own) is fine, and tastes great, but I just can't tolerate it mixed with other things. PLEASE HELP! Serious answers only, please!

I'm not lactose intolerant, because I can drink milk plain all day long. I could eat cheese, but I don't like it. Yogurt is fine, too. The only problem I have is over cereal, in a shake or smoothie, or with fruit. Other than that, I'm fine.

Ugh. There is NO WAY I am going back to soy. Besides, I am allergic to that as well. I was on soy formula as an infant but had to breastfeed because I couldn't take soy. Rice milk tastes nasty, too. Good old moo juice is fine, as long as it is plain.

I have a milk allergy too.

I can have dairy, but there's a limit before I get that sick feeling. I can barely finish a bowl of ice cream or I'll feel sick. I don't drink white milk (don't like it..) but I do drink chocolate milk and I can barely drink a glass of it before I get sick. Cheese is fine though..could eat it all day without getting sick.

You have the same problem as I do--you're only allergic to milk when it's in certain textures.

It could be you have an intolerance to the chemical reaction between milk and other ingredients. I've never heard of anything like this, though. Have you considered using soy milk in shakes and over cereal? You can also get soy ice cream in some fruit flavors.

I second the raw milk! I've been drinking it for almost a year now and have seen many improvements in things like upset stomach, allergies, etc... In fact, my allergy problem has dramatically reduced. Thing is, you want to find milk from cows that are on pasture and are taken care of properly. You want good clean milking techniques, too. Check out www.realmilk.com for more info. You'll probably be able to drink it alone or on anything else just fine. It has the good bacteria still in it (that pasteurization kills) and they help your gut digest food more efficiently.

Is there any possibility that you have a gluten allergy as they are the same symptoms so if you drink straight milk no worries but cereal contains wheat products as do some fruit ice creams. Might check that out! Good luck mate!

I have problems with dairy products in general. It started out of nowhere about 7 years ago. I initially thought I had the stomach flu or food poisoning. Nope, it was lactose intolerance. There are pills you can take called Lactaid, that lessen or eliminate the problem. You take it with your first drink or bite of food. Milk & cheese are my biggest downfalls.

You might be lactose intolerant, or it might be something with the acidity in some fruit (strawberries, for example) combining with the dairy. My sister had a similar problem and she would use Lactaid fast act pills when she would have ice cream or anything and it would help. Good luck!

you're lactose intolerant - the sugar in milk is called lactose - just like sucrose is a type of sugar or glucose - your digestive system lacks the enzymes needed to break down the lactose into something useable so bacteria go nuts and eat the lactose - this gives off gas and pain

stop drinking milk - switch to soymilk or rice milk - milk is unhealthy anyway

Sounds to me like a food allergy. Lots of dyes and preservatives can cause allergic reactions like this, especially sulfites. Also, whey. FYI- some other things associated with food allergies include skin rashes and wheezing. You should log what you eat and how you feel after and try visiting a gastroenterologist.

Maybe you should try Lactose free milk with cereal and other things for awhile. If you are lactose intolerant, it certainly is strange.
