hi I think that one of the hardest things to do is to ask that person if they want help.If they are active in their addiction and say yes the first step is to get them to the closest detox center.this usually last 10 days.It will give them time to get what ever it is they have in their system out.During this time they can be finding a place that will be more suitable to their needs. Now you may want to find this place for them one thing about addicts is the place that they need is the place where they will not want to go.Now if they refuse any help that you offer you ahve to cut ALL ALL ALL ties with that person. How do I know because I was that person that you are tring to help.and I kicked and screamed all the way when someone was trying to help me.But until that person wants help for themself there is nothing you can do.Please find and alanon near you or call the hotline# for alanon. You cannot do this with out support from people that know what you are going through. You can IM me

you need to confront them immediately. I dont know if you have ever seen intervention, a show on the A&E network that plays in Fridays around 10 or 11pm, but it is amazing. It deals primarily with people and their addictions. When it is time for the intervention the family all congregates together and the user is forced to face the facts. The family members then read letters that they have written to him/her explaining how they want them back and what the drugs have done to them emotionally and physically. In the end the user is offered help and if he/she refuses then the family decides that they will cut him/her off completely. they wont answer phones calls or anything unless it is to get help. My advice to you is create your own intervention write a letter to this particular family member explaining to them how important they are to you and tell them they either need to get help or that is it your realtionship will no longer exist.
