Our cat urines all over the place, normally in the same few spots.
We want to kind of lock her up in the laundry room in the basement. It is a good size room.
The floor is cement though and we want to make it at least comfortable for the Cat. What kind of amenities should we provide.
This is an older cat about 12 yrs.
Is there anything we can do to stop her urinating problem?
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated...Thanks!

We let the cat outside occasionally.

Remove kitty and put into a small space like a bathroom. Remove the other cats from that room. Be sure to remove the roll of toilet paper or it will shred it. Visit it, talk and pet it frequently. It's obviously stressed out...

Older cats do have a tendency to lose bladder control, but 12 years isn't really that old. Was she an outside cat? Did she ever use the kitty litter? Try putting her kitty litter in a place where she usually urinates. Are you sure she is a she, what you describe sounds more like a unneutered male spraying. Is it possible she has diabetes? Does she drink excess water? Locking her up in one room isn't really a good answer. She will miss the love and attention if she's anything like my cats and then she may get worse out of spite or frustration. If you must put a screen door on instead of a solid door so she doesn't feel so isolated. Put in a large climbing tree with a sleeping box. But the first thing you should do is to have her checked by a vet and make sure she isn't sick.

A trip to the vet to rule out kidney infection and things like that should be the first thing you do. Putting a cat in a basement with no sunlight is a sure way to kill it. Find a good home for it instead.

Also try opening the curtains to allow it to see outside, that is all it took for my cat to stop urinating in undesirable locations.

If you decide to abuse your cat in this way, put some blankets or something washable down and a cat bed so it at least has some place soft and warm.

have you had her to the vet for this problem? she could have a urinary tract infection. she will associate the litterbox with pain therefore not use it. so first step is to get her to the vet to rule out a medical condition.

then clean all the spots that she urinated in with natures merical that has enzymes in it that will eat away the urine so she won't smell the urine and think it's ok to go there.

if that doesn't work put her in a small room with her litter box, some water, some toys and keep her normal feeding schedule. make sure you go in there and play with her as well. she will learn to use the litter box because she doesn't want to live in her waste.
