Also she is doing acrobats in dance and I thought the trampoline might benefit her. The kitchen set I chose is that expensive because I esearched to find the tallest one I could because she is already 4foot tall and I tdidn't want her playing the kitchen set on her knees. Also all relative r family give $50 towards a gift of our choice. (yes she has bike and skates and safety gear very athletic girl new tap shoes /ballet/soccer shoes)

I know this is not a popular opinion, but those stupid trampolines are just plain dangerous, even with the nets. 5+ years working in the medical field, dealing with ER patients has taught me this, and my kids aren't allowed on them.

As much as I am sure she would enjoy the trampoline it is not a very good idea. Not just for the obvious safety reasons but many homeowners policies will charge you an additional premium or will not write your homeowners policy if you have a trampoline. Before purchasing it is something you may want to consider. If you are afraid that she will grow out of the kitchen set you might want to consider something else. A bike, a portable DVD player, a MP3 player. you would be suprised what she might.

if it's between those two, I'd get the kitchen. But I wouldn't go for the $200 model. I would go a little lower price. Trampolines can be very dangerous. My Mom was a pedi nurse and she can't count how many kids came in with tramp related injuries.

Go with something that she will use, but look at it practically as well. Don't just get it because it's the most expensive, get it because it's the best value and she would get the most out of it.

Don't get the trampoline. Darn things are too dangerous.

On the other hand, I'm not convinced you need to spend $200 for a kitchen set. Buy pieces that are flexible and usable for years (play food, dinnerware, pots, pans, etc.) and don't go overboard with things like the "all in one" sets (stove, fridge, etc).

One of the best gifts I gave my daughter was a picnic set with all of the above. She played with that stuff until she was 10 or 11!

Trampolines are dangerous. No matter how athletic she is, one wrong bounce or to land one cm in the wrong direction can snap her neck. I have a 5 year old, and would never put him on a trampoline. He is still not aware enough of the power of his body and would hurt himself.

As for the play set, I agree, I think $400 is too much. If you know she will outgrow the play set, why get it? Take her to a park for a day or horseback riding. She will get more kicks out of spending a "girls day' with you then a toy.

Personally, I am against trampolines. They do have a higher potential of being more dangerous. I had a kitchen set for my daughter when she was 5. (now 7) she had no interest in it. I would think a bike, roller skates, scooter or a pogo stick (I just got my daughter one that has a ball on the bottom, the pole is stretchable. She loves it.

Either is fine! The kitchen will last a few years and she can play with that all year round. My husbands cousin has a huge trampoline and the kids love it!! They keep bugging me for one. I will eventually get them one but maybe next year. So really either is good and that is not too much money if you have it!!

There is that safety issue with the trampoline of course.

Don't buy the Kitchen set...you are right..she will outgrow too soon...those are more appropriate to buy 2 year olds.

A trampoline is a great idea and will last for years. Kids love them. My kids have had one for years and plenty of friends have used them..never an accident. With anything physical, anyone could get hurt. I see kids more hurt on bikes but every kid has one.

Does she have a bike? Get her a bike. $200 is way too much for a kitchen set. You could buy yourself a new dishwasher for that much. Almost every house in my neighborhood has a big ugly trampoline and I NEVER see any kids playing on them, so I advise against it. You'll just end up having to throw it away.

My daughter is almost 6 and she never plays with her Dora kitchen I bought for her when she was 4. But I don't recommend the trampoline either, because it is too dangerous even with a net.

I would go with the trampoline. You will get your money's worth out of it. If you buy the kitchen set, she will probably only use it for a year or two, if that.
