Somebody's answer was that the anti-christ will be somebody that will claim to be the messiah and everybody will worship him and that will be a sign of the end of time. Is that true, because I thought that nobody knows when the end of time (rapture) is going to happen. So what's true about the anti-christ?

i believe the antichrist is satan, the word "antichrist" is found four times in the Bible, all in 1 & 2 John; note that in 1 John 4:3, John states that the antichrist was already in the world at the time of his writing, therefore, the antichrist is satan:

1Jo 2:18 - Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

1Jo 2:22 - Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

1Jo 4:3 - And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

2 Jo 1:7 - For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Ok, firstly we do not know the time that the end will happen. You are right there. We are able, however, to know the season and the signs of the end. Secondly, the "rapture" is not the end of time. The rapture is the end of the age of the church on earth. This will signify the beginning of what is known as the tribulation. During the tribulation the Anti-Christ will make himself known. And yes the anti-christ will be a man that claims to be the messiah, try to prove that he fulfills every messianic prophecy in the Old Testament, and many people will follow him and worship him. This will actually signify the ending of the first part of the tribulation and bring in the "great tribulation", which is a time of great war on the earth.

Hello,

There are many different opinions and ideas on this just as there are others in Christianity.

One scenario is what you describe; the other says it was the Emperor Nero or Domitian from the 7 hills of Rome (the beast) and yet other theologians say the Anti-Christ is metaphorical for any person or leader who rejects Christianity and persecutes her people. If you read revelation you see that people thought the coming of Christ was just around the corner in the First century. 2000 years later we are still waiting. The rapture (the word not in the bible) has also been greatly debated believed by some Christians and not by others. Ultimately and as always we cannot guess the time or date.

Cheers,

Michael

No one knows the exact time and date but God. But we are given information and a chronology of things to come so that we know we are getting closer.

But even without the "clues" it stands to reason that we are closer than ever before, and getting closer every second..... the enemy (Satan) know this, too, and the anti-christ will deceive many as a last ditch effort to take individuals down with him.

Not to hard to imagine when you have so many Christians that don't know what is in Bible, aren't sure how and if God works, etc. So it would not be difficult to deceive them..

The end of time is not the rapture. If you read revelations, Jesus returns to rule and reign with the elect for a 1000 years. So if you think we (humankind) are getting away from here anytime soon then you may already be deceived.....

The rapture will take place first and Jesus will take the bride of Christ to heaven.

Then the anti-christ will come on the scene with a 7 year peace treaty for Israel and her enemies.
For the first half of the tribulation their will be peace, the second half will show his real motive, being worshipped as God. That is what got him kick out of heaven and his ultimate goal.
He will deceive many, he and his false prophet will do many signs and wonders. He will miraculously recover from a assassination attempt on his life will a head wound.
He will demand people to worship him or be killed.

The thing is we do not know the DATE when the end will come. We will see the signs if we are open. Explosion of knowledge, forming a nation over night(Israel), Jews returning to the homeland....etc.

We are seeing the signs coming true, soon the Anti-Christ will be upon us, we must be careful of who he is and not to be so over excited about him...

Right now, most people think we're in the end of times, so if someone says "Hey, I'm Jesus" They'll be like "PRAISE GOD HE HAS COME AGAIN!!!" and just assume he IS the messiah...but he isn't. It is the truly faithful who will see him for what he is.

=================================

Oh yeah...the rapture is NOT a Christian doctrine...the holy will not just disappear in the blink of an eye and then all the faithless will be like "wtf, where did they go?". When Jesus comes to get His people everyone on earth will see His return.

the anti-christ will be a very charismatic "person" who will claim to be the messiah, it's true. Nobody knows when he will appear or who he will be but the rapture should happen before he is unveiled as the false messiah.

No one really knows what the Book of Revelation is talking about. Most biblical scholars hold that the writer(s) of that book were writing in a "code" with an intended audience of their co-religionists. The Roman emperor Domitian was persecuting the relatively new sect which became Christians (Messianists) and was attempting to force them into worshiping him and his priesthood.

Apocalypse (Greek: Ἀποκάλυψις -translit. APOKALYPSIS, literally: the lifting of the veil), is a term applied to the disclosure to certain privileged persons of something hidden from the mass of humankind. An apocalypse (like an epistle/letter , a fable, a parable, an allegory, etc.) is/was a well known literary genre learned by educated persons (generally males) in the first century. I'm sorry, but the authors of the Bible did not invent these genres - and in fact borrowed such themes as "the beloved friend," "the empty tomb," "the disloyal servant," "the return of the master," etc. from earlier Greek authors who pre-existed the thought of Christianity by hundreds of years.

The Book of Revelation was purposefully written in a cryptic and symbolic manner so as to hide the message from the unitiated and/or provide deniability. Due to its inherent ability to allow for mutliple interpretations and "reading into" the early church fathers almost kept it out of the canon like those other apocryphal texts most fundamentalists dismiss out of hand.

I personally find it hilarious that persons who have otherwise limited analytical facility are able to so clearly read the "truth" of this book and come to such definitive answers about something so cryptic and historially relative.

No rapture..........

I lol'd when I saw this answer to a question concerning rapture.

Artist: Blondie
Song: Rapture

Toe to toe
Dancing very slow
Barely breathing
Almost comatose
Wall to wall
People hypnotised
And they're stepping lightly
Hang each night in Rapture

Back to back
Sacrailiac
Spineless movement
And a wild attack

Face to face
Sadly solitude
And it's finger popping
Twenty-four hour shopping in Rapture

Fab Five Freddie told me everybody's high
DJ's spinnin' are savin' my mind
Flash is fast, Flash is cool
Francois sez fas, Flashe' no do
And you don't stop, sure shot
Go out to the parking lot
And you get in your car and you drive real far
And you drive all night and then you see a light
And it comes right down and lands on the ground
And out comes a man from Mars
And you try to run but he's got a gun
And he shoots you dead and he eats your head
And then you're in the man from Mars
You go out at night, eatin' cars
You eat Cadillacs, Lincolns too
Mercurys and Subarus
And you don't stop, you keep on eatin' cars
Then, when there's no more cars
You go out at night and eat up bars where the people meet
Face to face, dance cheek to cheek
One to one, man to man
Dance toe to toe
Don't move to slow, 'cause the man from Mars
Is through with cars, he's eatin' bars
Yeah, wall to wall, door to door, hall to hall
He's gonna eat 'em all
Rapture, be pure
Take a tour, through the sewer
Don't strain your brain, paint a train
You'll be singin' in the rain
I said don't stop, do punk rock

Well now you see what you wanna be
Just have your party on TV
'Cause the man from Mars won't eat up bars when the TV's on
And now he's gone back up to space
Where he won't have a hassle with the human race
And you hip-hop, and you don't stop
Just blast off, sure shot
'Cause the man from Mars stopped eatin' cars and eatin' bars
And now he only eats guitars, get up!

The Jews denied Jesus was the last Messiah so they are still waiting for "theirs".

Jesus was a last chance redemption for the Jews otherwise a chastisement would befall them for killing so many Prophets of God out of rebellion.

God will send them a FALSE Messiah and he will rule from Israel.

He will be the most Evil leader the world has ever seen and he will establish the Judaic laws with extreme brutality.

Antichrist is not the correct word since Christ is a greek word for Messiah.

The correct word is FALSE - MESSIAH.
