I like eating plain lemons (don't ask, I'm weird like that) but I sometimes get stomach aches afterward. Could this be because of the citric acid? Also, is it true that citric acid in lemons can burn fat in your stomach?

The acid in lemons is less powerful than that already present in your stomach.

Just drink a glass of water with half a teaspoon of baking soda after eating your daily ration of lemons.

The stomach produces hydrochloric acid, and others. Hydrochloric acid is powerful enough to dissolve nails, but the stomach produces very little of it. The stomach sometimes suffers from erosion of the lining, which is cause an ulcer. Once a person has an ulcer, a burning sensation will occur.
The most common causes of ulcers are medicines (especially the ones used to treat ulcers/heartburn/indigestion, etc.) and a bacterium called heliobacter pylori (h. pylori, for short). If you get stomach aches from eating lemons or anything else, refrain from eating it. An alternative would be to eat something bland either before eating the lemon or while eating the lemon, such as plain bread, plain crackers, oat meal, cream of wheat, etc.
Otherwise, see a doctor. In my case, as long as I took ulcer medications, my ulcer remained active, and they symptoms subsided only when I decided to quit taking the medications. So, while that is not a medical diagnosis, I would recommend a diet change FIRST; otherwise, see a doctor.

citric acid isn't that strong, it won't really burn anything. the acid your stomach naturally produces is way stronger than citric acid and the stomach lining is more than capable of protecting itself 99% of the time.

secondly acid doesn't burn fat. fats aren't really affected in the stomach except to be separated out from everything else. fat is digested in the duodenum (small intestine) by bile which is produced by your liver.

acid stimulates the stomach to work harder. ie the stomach produces acid and then the stomach churns everything up. maybe eating the lemons is stimulating your stomach work hard for little reason. instead of churning a full meal it is churning a little bit of lemon.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

this can be verry damaging to your stomach lining, i love oranges and tomatoes and they have a lot of acid in them.
BUT i cant eat a lot of them because they start to cause me a lot of pain.
just chill on the lemons. Lemons arent going to burn fat though.

It isn't going to burn the fat. But yes, too much acid will wear away the lining of your stomach as well as your esophagus. Cut back on them.

The HCl in our stomach is of concentration ranging from Ph 3 - 5. And it dilutes the MORE ACIDIC content which has entered into our body. Think it this way, our body has VERY HIGH proportion of WATER. It dilutes the acidic content that enters our body. The HCl in our stomach just reduces the UNDIGESTED FOOD CONTENT.

I eat lemons all the time too!

put some sugar on them. omg soo good! hehe

But no like anything with Vit. C (oranges, grapefruit, lemons, limes) burns food in your stomach.

Like all the excess that your body cant digest.. it just burns them out.

Everytime I go on a diet I eat something with Vit. C after I have a meal.

My moms been doing it for years.

I think it works ♥
