I had the same problem, but after a major car wreck I had to have 2-3 shots a day for my stay in the hospital (27 days!) and now I can tell you that there really not that big of a deal anymore.

Theres nothing you can do to get over your fear other than getting shots, blood samples, anything that involves a needle. Just don't worry about it and rest in the knowledge that the more you do it the less you'll fear them

No one likes needles, but they do not need to be scary. The best thing you can do is tell the doctor/nurse that you are nervous, don't look and take slow deep breathes. Most needle don't hurt, they just pinch, although needles used for blood donation are quiet large and it is a bit uncomfortable. I am usually fine with needles as soon as I don't look and the nurses at my doctors clicinc know this but the doctor doesn't and this year he had to give me flu shot and as he prepared the shot he had it right in front of me and when he saw for tear filled eyes he said "You're not scared of a little needle are you?" and I said "No, I just don't like lookin'" and then he did it real quick and I didn't even feel it.

Don't worry, just stay calm, sit still, don't look and breath.

Ask the nurse or doctor to use the smallest needle possible whenever you have to get a shot or have blood drawn. And if you can, have a friend come with you to distract you. Pretty much all you can do is turn your head and take a deep breath.

My sister just takes her ipod with her and turns her head when they are giving the shot.

Just make sure you tell the doctor that you don't like needles!!
Tell her you don't want to talk about it you just want the shot so you can go!
