I got a set from Victoria's Secret over 10 years ago and love them. I do know that there are slide problems, but I anchor the corners of the fitted sheet with garters and tuck the end under the mattress then make box corners to keep the top sheet from sliding. I wash them and dry them per the instructions on the sheets, no special care. I love the fact that they always come out looking wrinkle free and stay that way on the bed. They also are great on a hot summer night because you can always find a cool spot!

Satin is a weave, not a fabric. So, you can have silk satin, cotton satin, or polyester satin. Satin is soft because of the way it is woven - the smooth part of the weave is on top. Satin snags easy, but other than that, it will last as long as any other sheets. I would not buy polyester satin sheets as the polyester in a fabric is what makes it pill (get the fuzzy balls on it) and they will no longer be soft. But, a cotton satin sheet set will last as long as any other. If you are just looking for something soft (and not the shiney look of satin), then I would go with a high thread count cotton sheet set. 400 and above is very soft. And, they won't slip off of the bed.

Probably the "satin" you are looking to buy is not really satin but a synthetic mix to look like it. I had something similar a very long time ago and hated them. Everything slides off the bed. If you are wanting something extra soft, buy a higher than 300 thread count cotton and you will be thrilled.

I have black satin sheets, and I love them. I ordered them online and they are still wonderful (had them over a year.) I wash them like the rest of my laundry and they haven't stretched out or anything bad.

I ordered mine at www.kinglinens.com
