I have a 2 year old and I got rid of the bottles, now I cant get him to drink any milk. I have sippy cups, Ive tried straws, he hasnt drank any milk in 4 days. Does anyone have any ideas how I can get him to drink milk without it being in the bottle?

The only way to get my son to drink milk out of a sippy cup is to make it chocolate milk. If your son is eating yogurt and cheese and other high calcium foods then you don't have to worry about him drinking milk as much. This coming from the people at WIC. Just add some chocolate to it and see if he takes it or make up some carnation instant breakfast if you want more nutrients in it.

Try steaming the milk and cooling it before putting it in the sippy cup - the taste changes just a bit, and the warm temperature is soothing. My daughter loves it this way. She's 19 months and will take a sippy-cup rather than a bottle as long as I give her the milk FIRST before even offering her any food at mealtimes.

As a temporary measure, have you noticed that he'll drink from YOUR cup if you offer him a sip of whatever you're having? Fix a cup of milk without a lid as if for yourself, pretend to drink it, then offer him a taste from "your" cup. This takes a lot of patience and a lot of bibs to get through a whole 6 ounces or so, but it's worth it.

It's a power struggle. All the other suggestions are good ones, but I say just keep offering it and do not make a big deal or even draw attention to the fact he hasn't drunk it. If he throws the cup, calmly take it away saying something like "big boys don't act like this." If he liked drinking milk from a bottle, he'll eventually drink from a cup.

Milk is not as important as some think it is,

Calcium? Get it from cheese, spinach, broccoli, nuts.fortified Orange juice

Vitamin D? Tuna ,salmon,eggs,
Go outside in the sun and your body will produce it.

Vitamin A? Carrots,sweet potato,Apricot,eggs,bell peppers

Two key points
1) all those commercials, magazine ads, billboards, radio spots are NOT from a Government board or agency
They are produced by The American Dairy Council(a group of dairy farmers and their representatives, who want you to by more milk).
and
2) I have NEVER seen adult cows drinking milk

its actually very normal for a child around age 2 to refuse milk. Usually doctors suggest using chocolate or strawberry milk or just making sure they are eating cheese or yogurt. He will probably go back to liking milk, just when he wants. A week or 2 of no milk will not hurt him.

I don’t know, maybe I’m weird or what, my soon to be 3yr old son, thinks he is the boss.
Of course I’m the parent, and I know when to put my foot down, but because I’m the grown up I use reverse psychology.
My son is a big boy, and big boys don’t drink “te-te”.
Can you through it in the garbage, or do you want mommy to do it?”

He “decided” to do it by himself and we made lots of noise as of a party. He loved it

Ps.-

“Or do you want mommy to do it?”
Use it as many times as you need to. Kids like to make decisions and are exploring independency. They can do it all.
