A few days ago i went to Old Navy, and purchased a few pair of pants. I got the pants size that I normally wear not knowing that the sizes differe from stor to store. when i got home I wanted to show my mom how they looked on me. To my shock and horror They were to tight. I got a bit depressed about it and was on the edge of tears. My mama simply told me about the size difference. When I went to exchange them the customer sevice girl asked why i wanted to return them and I said that I wanted to exchange them b/c they didnt fit like i would like them too. When I turned to walk away she says, and i quote, "I cant stand fat *** people that try to buy smaller sizes to make them selves feel bettter! How pathtic!". Normally I have good ontrol over my emotions but that made tears come to my eyes. I turned and said that I hoped she has a better day. I was so upset i forgot to exchange them or get my money back. What should i do about it?

What that customer service person did was completely unacceptable! Did you get her name? You need to go back to that store and demand to speak to the manager. Store employees have been fired for less than what that sorry excuse for customer service said to you.

If the manager doesn't deal with this situation to your satisfaction, (I would settle for nothing less than a full refund, the correct size of pants for free, the removal of that employee and an apology) write a letter to the manager's boss (they're required to give the address if you ask) explaining the situation, how it made you feel, what you would like to be done about it and how the manager failed to address your concerns.

If that doesn't work, then be prepared to do your shopping elsewhere and spread the word about how rude and ineffective they are. Businesses rely on customer satisfaction. Without customers, they have nothing. You are the one with the real power in this situation. Don't be afraid to take it back.

OH! I would have given her a worse day! Not only would I have told her she was wrong (I might have cried to make her feel bad.), I would have demanded to see the manager. Further, and this is something you can STILL do, I would Google corporate headquarters and write a letter to the President of Old Navy. All you have to do is tell him what you told us. More than likely, the President won't even see it, but he will send it to the head of the right department and it will be stamped with something like "from the President's office" so they will look at it right away. Make sure that you give the location of the store and when you were there and what department this b***ch was in. (At least her first name if you can remember it.)

I thought you were just going to mention how grouchy some of these people on the phone are, but this is way over the top! DON'T let this one go!

There's no excusing remarks like that to a customer, or to anyone else for that matter. I would take the issue up with the store manager or to an Old Navy zone manager by phone if necessary. Tell them exactly what happened and what you wish to do regarding returning the items you purchased. Contrary to your mother's remark regarding size differences between stores, they are all the same. It is possible (and likely) that you may have purchased an item or items, which were miss-marked.

Go back to the store
Complete your exchange or return
Speak to the manager
Contact the corporate office and let them know the outcome-Good or Bad
Make contact via the website before you go back and then again to let them know the outcome.

This means they get two chances to make it right

i hope this helps

(btw she is right some people do that but that is none of her business and it is INAPPROPRIATE for her to make this remark. She intended for you to hear it but I applaud you for not going off on her-you handled the matter more profesionally than she did)

UPDATE: When you contact management online send a link to this posting so that they will know that t hier customers will not accept this rudeness

Go to the main office and ask to see the manager. I am sure they will want to know all about what happened.

You are the customer, Old Navy needs customers like you much more than they need that stupid sales girl that insults their customers.

I don't blame you I would have gotten upset too. But now you have to make it right.

knowing the date time and having a general description of what the person looked like that talked to you like that, it would be wise to call and ask to speak to the manager of the store. describe in detail, what happened and how it made you feel, ask that manager for the name and telephone of the district or general manager. he should have an apology immediately for the poor quality of service you encountered and empathize with your situation. if you still have your pants, request to meet him/her at the store to help you with your exchange or refund. but, if the store manager is ugly..be prepared to take the next step up with a higher level manager.

you are a customer. your purchases contribute towards their paychecks and you DID NOT or DO NOT deserve someone to belittle you like that - especially while on company time...

dont let that girl get away with that. let management know... w

Here's what you need to do. Contact the store manager and make sure you get a name. Tell them of the incident. Follow that up with an email to Old Navy itself custserv@oldnavy.com. This will probably get someone fired and perhaps a discount.

Immediately call up Old Navy... I used to work there and they are BIG on CUSTOMER SERVICE. What she said was absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. If you still have your reciept, go back into the store and get a manager, explain the entire situation. Good luck!!!

Talk to the manager! As a customer service rep, I would never say something like that behind a customer's back! That is rude ... so call the manager tell them what happened!

On a normal basis a manager will take care of the problem. If they don't call their corporate office about the uncouth behavior!
