No, but at 16 she is able to make decisions for her own child, no doctor would perform an abortion on a 16 year old without her consent.

you cannot take a mothers parental rights away because of that, however, if you can prove that the mother is in some other way abusing said 16 year old girl you might have a case. No matter what, she cannot force her daughter to have an abortion and you may be able to get her legally blocked from that. I would call your department of family services locally and alert them to the situation, they probably won't be able to do anything major but they might be able to help some. Either way, the mother has NO RIGHTS when it comes to her daughters reproductive choices. She should be well aware of this because I'm sure if it was up to her, her daughter wouldn't be pregnant. Don't let her bully the 16 year old into a decision she doesn't want!

The mother of the teenager can not have her rights taken away for that reason. However, she also has no right to force her daughter to have an abortion.
At 16, the girl is still a minor yet she is able to make her own legal and medical decisions as it relates to the pregnancy (and she can make legal and medical decisions for her child after s/he is born). Without her mother's consent, she can continue the pregnancy and then put the child up for adoption.
I commend her for wanting to do so, rather than taking the easy way out and killing an innocent life. She should seek counseling at a local Crisis Pregnancy Center. They can advise her of her rights and where she can go to for help.
I wish her the best...

Mothers cannot force their daughters to have abortions. The 16-yr-old should contact a crisis pregnancy center (or Catholic Social Services, even if she isn't Catholic) and explain that she is pregnant and wants to put her baby up for adoption, but her mother is trying to force her to have an abortion. They will get the girl and her mother in touch with family counselors or something if the mom agrees to it and give the girl all the support she will need to have the baby instead of aborting him/her.

The mother has no control over the future of the baby. The 16 year old is the parent not the 16 year olds mother.

No state will allow the mother to force the abortion in a girl of 16. The only time they may defer if is there is a medical issue that puts the mother's life in serious risk. I

I don't think so...but I also don't think the mother can force the child to have an abortion. I'd call a local lawyers office and see if they can provide any information on the 16 year old's rights.

Depending on your state it's up to the girl if she wants to adopt the baby out or have an abortion. If she's 16 most states say it's her choice. Good luck and for the love of God use birth control from now on.

A parent cannot force her/his teen daughter to have an abortion. It's an elective medical procedure, and will not be performed absent the consent of the person having it....no matter how much her parents encourage/push.
And no, you would not be able to terminate the mother's parental rights for wanting her daughter to abort.

No they can't force her to have an abortion. No doctor would do that without her consent anyways. So if she doesn't want one they don't have that recourse!
Look into emancipation for her state. I don't know which she lives in so I can't assist there but I got emancipated when I was 17 because I was preggers and wanted to get married. So my parents no longer had any say in my life and I married the man I loved!
