If your father was an American citizen when you were born, you should be as well. Contact the American embassy for assistance.

My kids are the other way round. Their mother is American. Get your US passport first and soon. The US tolerate dual citizenship in minors but expect you to choose when you are 18 (in reality most people don't bother but you have to go through the motions). It's a bit more hassle to get a US passport these days because you can't just turn up at the Embassy any more, it has to be processed through the passport department in the States. You'll need help from your Dad. Once you've got your blue one then apply for the red UK one in the normal way with a form from the Post Office. When you do have both passports enter and leave the US on the blue one, enter and leave the UK on the red one. My eldest daughter has been a dual citizen for about 8 years (she's 24 now) and is currently living and working in the US.

Just apply for a US passport. If your parents are married you will most probably already be a citizen. If they aren't married - you still have a good chance of becoming one. If you can get your dad to quickly register your birth at the US embassy - BEFORE you are 18. It will be so much easier for you. :-)

You have to be bi-polar or schizophrenic...

That way one of you can be English and the sane one American.

g-day!
