Heres the deal. My parents divorced when I was 3 years old and the judge ordered my dad to pay $50 a week. If he did pay it was very few times. I am now 19 years old and I wanted to know if there is anything I can do to make him pay the money he owes. We never tried to get it from him before because I had a good relationship with his parents (my grandparents) but now theres different circumstances. Please help!

In Texas there is no time limit (statute of limitation) as to when you can collect past due child support

If the man is in jail and has been most of his life how is he going to pay back child support. You can get judgement against him but that does not mean you will collect.

yes! more than likely ur mom will get it. Heres what you do call the courthouse where the order was issued and find out how much he is in arrears give them his address where he works phone # any kind of info you have on him and watch the justice system work! Also, find out the laws in your State to find out exactly what YOU are entitled to if you are still in school that money may come to you so get on the phone and do some research sweetie and GOOD-LUCK

Consult an attorney in the state where the child support was ordered. In some states you can collect and in others you can not.

Yes, however, the money belongs to your mother because the child support was meant to help raise you. If your mother is deceased, the money is yours. Either way, you two need to contact child support recovery and get what is owed to you.

Your mom would have to take your dad to court and the money would go to her. Back child support is money he'd owe to re-imburst your mom for expenses that she had to work extra hard for because he refused to step up and cover his half.

Who is we? The child support is owed to your mother, not you. Your mother took care of you, even though she was not getting the support she needed. You have no business expecting that money for yourself. If your mother's alive, the money belongs to her. And if she can recover these funds, she should keep the money. It is very selfish of you to think it should come to you. Get a job.

Why would you want to do anything with a man who denied you over all these years, by not maintaining you. The best thing you can do to "spite," him is to be the best person you can be, especially professionally. Men like to brag about the success of their children, even when they had nothing to do with it, but providing the sperm.

YES... and they will figure a way to get it. the grandparents have nothing to do with it (how you feel about them), so just do what you need to do.
here are the links you will need. you will also need a well seasoned attorney.
