Shoudl i remove the nail?

SO basically, ive had dodgey toenails all my life. My left ibg toenail has been bruised loads of times, and the last time, when it healed - the toenail grew.. outwards from the toe. Now, i was cutting it and the bottom of it came off (weak nail?) And theres (what seems to be) another nail growing underneath. Now i dont know if i should leave it and see a specialist or cut it off as much as i can?

If I DID remove teh nail,. would it get infected?

Keep the old nail trimmed, maybe even taped.
I had that once and in the middle of the night pulled the remaining nail completely off by my covers. OUCH!
The new nail will replace it.
