My favorite works about Thomas Aquinus was that his family had arranged a marriage to consolodate two families and the thought of what he would have to do with a woman on his wedding night was so abhorant to him that he refused the marriage. His family locked him in a tower for a year until he agreed to the marriage, but he never gave in since sex with a woman so revolted him. They finally gave up and he became a serious part of the church teaching especially about how men and women are to be with one another. And people wonder where the church gets some of their strange ideas.

Thomas Aquinas was greatly influenced by the writings of muslim philosophers like Ibn Rushd. I like reading his humanistic approach to the philisophical view of religion. Though there are many things I don't agree with his philosophy, all in all I see in his works the wonder and beauty of the merging of islamic and christian theology proclaming the greatness of God.

I studied Thomas Aquinas at University. It made as much sense then as it does now, which is none at all, although in fairness, it would have been impressive in his era which was dominated by ignorance and superstition. I am an atheist, as is befitting any intelligent and educated person.
