I would go to the doctor, if it's a brown recluse bite, it could be very serious. Check out the web site below.

Pity we don't know what type of spider. However, if you are convinced that it was a spider and the bite has formed a hard lump and is swollen I take the boy to a doctor. There are some bites that look harmless at first but end up being a huge crater later on. Ticks do the same thing and I'd be more inclined to think that it is a tick bite. If you son develops flu like symptoms he will have tick fever - nasty stuff. Sooner to the doctor the better in both cases.

Brown Recluse bites look like a fire ant bite with a red ring around it. It will itch and when scratch hurts like fire. I've been bitten by them 7 times. (poisoned flesh must be removed entirely or it will continue to spread.) Your son's bite doesn't sound like a recluse.
Stop the peroxide. Hot salt water packs will help draw the venome. Ichthammal cream (behind the CVS counter) will also draw the poison.
watch for signs of blood poisoning red streak
It will heal on its own in time -- good luck

Take him to his doctor. If it is still swollen and red it may be infected. Some spider bites can cause necrosis of the flesh or in other words kills the flesh. Anytime you get bit by something like that (spider, snakes, and sometimes bees) you should get medical attention. Not doing so can have horrible consequences, especially if the offender is poisonous.

my aunt lived in s . e missouri and got a spider bit that turned out to be serious. there is a spider there that is rare but you can die from. she ended up having to have surgery to cut out the infection. none of the antiobiotics helped. if you can, i would take son to doctor to make sure this isn't more serious. I realize not everyone has access to good doctors, hopefully, there is a clinic or someone who can help there.

Brown recleus bites look like this. I would get it checked out immediatley. If it is a Brown recleus bite it can be taken care of if caught soon enough with no damage done. If not, sections of the skin can start rotting away. No joke, it is nasty stuff. May not be brown recleus, but worth checking out.

I had something similar, but it turned out to be a drug resistant staph infection. Take him to the doctor. Immediately. I waited too long, and am suffering the consequences now. My arm swelled up to the point of intense pain, and I now have an abcess in my entire forearm. This is serious stuff.

see the dr, as alot of bites can be deadly like brown recluse and black widow. i got bit by the brown recluse and it was red and swollen, and took 6 weeks to heal, not saying that is what bit him, but to be safe see someone.

sounds more like a bee sting...take him to the doctor .....peroxide won't help a spider or bee sting..you need a cream...take him to the dr....
my aunt lost her finger to a bee sting cause she waited to long...never assume it will get better on it's own especially if you don't know the origin of the wound.
