When you are dialing a number or on a call, what does the "pause" button do? Does it mean pause in the dialing process to wait for an extension or does it mean something else?

this is used when you are going to store a number to the phones memory...

say you called 555-1212 often, and needed to get in touch with extention 123 when connected, when you program the number into your phone book you would add pause after the number and before the extention... sometimes the pause is too short, some phones will allow you to adjust the pause length, otherwise you will need to add multiple pauses to lengthen the pause sequence...

the final phone book entery would look something like this

555-1212p123

there is no other use for the pause button

The pause feature is used when you are programing a number into your speed dial. If there is an extension or anything that needs to be dialed after the main number you insert 1 or more pauses to allow the call to connect before the next sequence of dialing.

Pause on a fone works like this:
Say you have to call your bank. You first have to call the number, then when it answers, you have to enter your account number, then a pin number, etc. There has to be a PAUSE between these numbers, and that's what the PAUSE is for! :D If you need more space (time) between the numbers, you can pur more than one pause in the chain. When I call my bank, there is something like 6 pauses between the dialed number, and the computer info.

That is for stored numbers only, by the way! :D It just makes it easier to dial really long numbers.

I use it to set-up/access my voice-mail box....I have programed my phone to speed-dial my toll-free number, then put PPPP, and then the 4 digits code!!

so I don't have to dial the extensions...
