I feel that I have become too logical. I tend to think too much about the things in life that require very little thinking. To me, sleeping is not "Lie in bed, fall asleep, dream, and wake up." My version of sleep is "Lie down on the bed, find a comfortable position, close my eyes, focus on nothingness, wait for a few minutes, sleep, wake up, think about last night, and finally start my day."
When someone looks out a window, he or she might see a tree. It is there to that person. The person has no further questions.
If I saw the same tree, I would know that it is a tree, but I would begin to think about what type of tree it is. I would think of the animals that could live in it. I might compare it with other trees in the area. I also might think about what problems the tree could cause and how to solve the problems.
Am I over logical?

No because you do not do that to everything, you are just citing instances where you intellectualize perceptions. I bet if you were serious about it, you could find lots of things, innumerable things you do not intellectualize.
I'll give you ten right now. while you were looking out the window at the tree you were not intellectualizing...
About how your body was feeling.
What needed to be done that day.
what you had done yesterday.
What your laundry situation was.
How you family felt about you as indicated by their behavior.
How you would order your food.
How you could interpret your appearance by peoples reactions to you.
If you had a disease process metabolizing in your tissues.
If you were hydrated.
what state of muscle fatigue you were in.
You see, perception is reality. Attention harnesses perception. you cannot pay attention to more than a few things at once. The difference being, you can perceive all that is going on around and in you but only by paying attention to something specific are you able to think about it. We cannot think about more than one thing at a time. We can remember and factor in variables and consider multiple events and weigh them perpetually, but we can only have one thought at a time.
To notice yourself intellectualizing "too much" only means you are doing it more than you were before. To do something too much means you have set a limit for yourself and are exceeding it. Only you know if you are doing it too much as only you set your own limits. If you are asking if other people think you should decrease the amount of energy and attention you have been placing lately upon observing your thought processes, then, well, that is just a really weird question right?
If you are concerned that it is having a negative effect on you, consider what effect it is having, and if you do not desire that effect, then make a change. If you think you are the only person who really considers what is going on around them, well, most people feel that way until they learn to empathize with the human experience.

I think it is okay, such as in the tree, it's poetic. But with falling asleep, that could cause sleeping problems. If this gets in the way of your job or relationships, that would be a problem. Can you stop it? Or is it automatic, like a disorder. My husband does this sometimes, just looks to close or too deep, when all you really need to do is step back and see the picture. It just depends on the situation and what you have time for, really.

I don't believe that you are being too logical because to over think things is illogical. I believe you are being overly analytical and its usually a waste of time if you are using time to think of things you dont feel are important. If you like doing it continue if you don't...stop. Try retraining yourself to see what you want to see. The person that sees only a tree might only choose to see the tree altho he knows it has a species and an origin and is the place where lots of creatures based on location and season of course, can live. soo overly logical nope...

I would say overly analytical, but not over logical. It's not a problem, unless you are stressing out about it. If you start to get sick to your stomach over things like that then, yeah, it's a problem. Remember that most people think with their hearts, not their logic centers, so be careful how you put things when talking to people, or you will hurt their feelings with too much "hard, cold Logic", and you will come off looking like an ***. :) Good luck

I wouldn't say that you are over logical at all. I would say that you are very intellegent if you think not of just the tree, but the world around the tree as well. In my opinion, we need more people like you in the world.

It sounds like you have an active, intelligent mind, which is never a bad thing. However, try to remember that not all things can be calculated, and not all things, or people, are logical. Allow room in your life for some things that are just....feelings :)

This is my personality type. I can have the same over anaylitical style that you do.
Research your Personality Type by taking some online tests and it will answer all your questions about who you have become.
If you come back and post a question regarding the type you have tested as then people can help you understand yourself better that way as well.

NO! I do those things, too. Call it philosophical. Having deep thoughts is a good thing! Who wants to be plain and normal? Who wants to be boring?! Not me!
It's wonderful to put extra thought behind things. Embrace it, love it. Good for you! You'd make a great artist!
