They have always been.
Infact lately the fanatics have declined.
300 years ago, christians used to burn witches alive in public.
Luckily they're grown up now.
However, Islam is still living in 300 B.C. and it's all going to be demolished in a war soon.

There actually aren't nearly as many as there used to be. The only problem is the ones that are around are being louder to compensate...

Why are there so many non believers?
Calling people religious fanatics just because they
believe in God is criticizing and poking fun.

Fear drives people to religion, and fear makes them fanatical. They are obviously very afraid right now.
