I do believe that the Bible teaches us that God is not a God of the dead, but of the living (Mark 12:27). Death is not a conscious state, but rather a sleep, in which all will someday be awakened, some to everlasting life, others to eternal separation from God (the second death).

Ecclesiastes 9:5,6
5 For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even the memory of them is forgotten.
6 Their love, their hate and their jealousy have long since vanished; never again will they have a part in anything that happens under the sun.

Daniel 12:2
And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

1 Thesselonians 4:13-18
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

I have found a great website that explains the state of the dead using the Bible alone. You should really check it out!
God bless!

No, I do not agree.
Dead is the separation of the spirit from the body. Dead exist.
God is still their God.

1 Peter 3
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

When Christ died, he preached to the spirits in "prison" or "hell" and some of those where the ones who disobedient and died in the flood. They were not sleeping, they were aware, and they heard his message.

1 Peter 4
6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

If the dead were "sleeping" or "non-existent, then how was the gospel preached unto them? They were and are still aware and have their intelligence and their memories and their spirit body, just not their physical body.

All dead will be resurrected, all. (1 Corinthians 15:22, As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.)
Not all receive the same reward. (In my Fathers house there are many mansions) There is a difference between immortality and eternal life.

I am not sure I understand what you are trying to get across, but I believe these are the passages you need.

"For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him."
Luke 20:38

And a couple verses back:

"Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection."
Luke 20:36

Yes, I agree. However, ALL the dead will be resurrected, John 5:28 "all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice (29) and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who did vile things to a resurrection of judgement." Acts 24:15 "there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous". As for the dead not sleeping, Jesus himself called death 'sleep' John 11:11 "He said these things, and after this he said to them: 'Lazarus our friend has gone to rest, but I am journeying there to awaken him from sleep". The disciples thought Jesus meant he was just asleep, however, Jesus corrected them in verse 14 "Jesus said to them outspokenly: Lazarus has died." So the dead are as though asleep and not aware. Ecclesiastes 9:5, "for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all"; Psalm 146: 3,4 "Do not put you trust in nobles, Nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs. His spirit goes out, he goes back to the ground; In that day his thoughts do perish." If we have no thoughts how can we be aware.

That's what the Bible says, so yes, I agree with you.

Angel Dove - Ezekiel 18:3 says "The soul that is sinning—it itself will die." The soul is not immortal. The pagan teaching of the immortal soul has crept into Christianity and continues the first lie recorded in the Bible when Eve was told by the serpent: "You positively will not die."

Every event in the universe is carried in a travelling wave of energy, and that energy will always exist in one form or another - at death, the person ceases to be that person, however, the energy within that person must continue to exist

No I don't agree, but then I'm Buddhist and we have a way different concept about death and what goes on afterward.

No, I don't agree with you. God calls us home, so why would he lock the door?

Remember, "god" is nothing more than a nonsense word invented by men to explain away the things we can't yet understand.
