Coffee is bitter as has been stated. Here in Thailand , if you have coffee, in a Thai shop anyway, they will also give you a small cup of weak Thai tea. This is to clear your mouth of the remnants of the coffee and you don't get that aftertaste.

Either you brushed your teeth before, or maybe you have used expired cream or milk, but you probably would know that.
Once I drank milk after eating a kiwi. I was going to pour out the entire gallon, but thought maybe I could cook with it. I thought the milk went bad. The next day my son poured a glass. Just as he was ready to tip the glass into his mouth I yelled, " Stop! That's bad."
He drank it and said, "No it's not", then I remembered it was the kiwi that was reacting with the milk.
If you eat pickles, sometimes this will cause coffee to taste acidic.
Maybe you just got a bad batch of coffee?

Yes. Coffee is quite bitter and has acid in it and what you are feeling in your mouth is a combination of the leftover acid and the remnants of the coffee.
