Ok...there is no REAL statement in the Bible that the Rapture will happen. There are vague suggestions, but nothing that says it will.
I know that an Evangelical Minister in the late 1800's believed that the Rapture would in fact happen. He even tried to predict it...and we know how that turned out. But...the long held belief that it would happen has continued. It is in many Christian teachings.

What I want to know, is that do YOU personally think it will happen, or do you think that it's wishful thinking (lack of a better word), so that Christians won't have to experience the horrible rein of the anti-Christ?

I'm not opening this up for discussion or attacks....just your opinion...and not one that someone else told you to believe....

I love that when I say it's not open for discussion...people feel the need rant on why their position is right....I DONT CARE if you are right, I just wanted people's opinions on if they THINK it's TRUE or FALSE.....

thanks to all that gave me just what I asked for...

I have no reason to believe it will and no evidence to show that it won't. So I guess I don't know.

"there is no REAL statement in the Bible that the Rapture will happen"? You've overlooked these verses, which CLEARLY tell us something will happen:

1 Cor. 15:51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”

And how about 1 Thes. 4:15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

NEITHER of these passages are vague at all!

Placed together, we know that 1) not all of us will die; 2) we who are alive will all be plucked up (Greek "harpazo") from the earth; 3) those who died prior to this occurance will be resurrected bodily first; 4) we will all be physically perfected; 5) we will live with God forever. Some people refer to this event as the Rapture. (Those who say this word cannot be found in the Bible have never read the Latin Vulgate translation.)

I personally believe in a pre-Tribulation Rapture. However, others believe in a mid-Tribulation Rapture and a small number of folks believe in an end-of-Tribulation/pre-Second Coming Rapture.

It is untrue that the Rapture was first mentioned in the 1800's. There are second-Century writings that confirm the Rapture was taught by the early Church.

I believe that the rapture will happen and I believe it will happen before the Seven Year Tribulation of the Book of Revelation. The Church has to be removed from the scene for God to finish the final week of years that was prophesied in Daniel regarding the Jews and their command to end iniquity. This can only happen by ending the Age of Grace/Church Age and reverting back to the Age of the Law. The Church can't be here for that since it is not under the Law and that means it has to be taken away.

true
altho ..the word rapture dose not appear in the Bible...but it means catching up
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
this proceeds the tribulation period (7 Years of bad times on the earth)
Read 1 Thes 4-13-18
I will not be here during the tribulation

In my studies I have found there are references to help support all 3 of the rapture theories. My best answer is that no matter when we go to be with our Lord the best thing we can do is make sure our hearts are ready. Jesus will take care of the rest for us.

It could happen. I tend to believe more in mid-tribulation,
though. I don't "preach" one way or another about it.
I just know we will be with the Lord - a great honor!
Revelation is "code" but I believe that there will be a
tribulation, an anti-christ deceiver, and a final revised
roman empire, i.e. one world government, at the end.

The only people I see following the idea fall into one (or both) of two groups. The first are (perhaps willfully) ignorant. They think that floods, fires, earthquakes, etc. are some recent invention. The second group *apparently* wants the world to end in their lifetime as some sort of spiritual reassurance that their praying isn't all for nothing, oh and as perhaps vindictive punishment to those who don't share in their beliefs.

i understand what you mean...i just believe whatever the bible says. i dont look in the bible for whether is says there will be a rapture or not. whatever it says (in the bible) will happen..
so if what the bible says (is the rapture) then yes, i believe it will happen.

I believe in it because the Scripture says "...and we SHALL BE (in the future) CHANGED (given a 'glorified' body/Raptured) IN THE MOMENT, IN THE TWINKLING of an eye....." The "in a moment" phrase is what lends credence to the Rapture, for the Greeks referred to this moment in their translation as "rapare" which means "to SNATCH AWAY or SEIZE". Sounds like an apt description to me!

2 Peter 3:8-15 – instead of worrying about when the rapture will occur, Christians should follow Peter’s instruction to repent of their sins, live lives of holiness and godliness, be zealous and at peace, and wait for the Lord’s coming with forbearance and joy!
