I am a muslim since more then 6 years, and I have been covering fully (wearing abaya and niqab - face vail), since 4 years. I have started fully covering in Arabic country, where majority of population is Muslim (it helped me a lot and make things easier). I have chosen to cover becuase of my believes, not because of any out-side pressure. It is difficult to say what are the intentions of other Muslim women who choose the full cover, and thus impossible to answer your question on behalf of others. They should do so. Anyway, do not believe that we are forced to wear what we wear. I do believe most of Muslim women choose so freely, because of their belief and faith. I do not feel unconfortable by wearing abaya nor covering my face, on the opposite - I Love it.
Oh, and by the way, the intention is not to be provocative, not at all. Intention is to be with accordance with myself, my beliefs, religion and to be obedient to God Almighty. While traveling abroad, it is v. difficult to cope with all the attention my 'cover' is dragging.

I am a muslim of 5 years and wear hijab but am now wanting to wear Full Hijab ie niqab and gloves. I am not being provocative. I have been thinking about it for some time but I guess all the news stories etc is keeping it in my mind and actually making me think of my responsibilites and what Allah wants for me. I guess you could say that media hype is actually helping me to become a better Muslim

There are many misconceptions about muslim women and one one of them is that they are force to wear the veil by their sadistic men.

On the contrary most women who wear veils have done so by their own will believing that God had commanded them to do so. Why do we admire the catholic nuns for their veil-wearing and scorn the muslim women for doing the same out of religious reason and modesty?

I think that they are proud of making a statement of their religious identity. Many have no choice, of course.
