One day I had a personal encounter with God through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, and I came into a personal relationship with God through faith. I experienced forgiveness of sins, peace with God and an assurance of eternal life. I received the Holy Spirit of God, who remains with me and teaches me the things of God, leading me into all truth. I am a very different person today than what I was 36 years ago when God first made Himself known to me.

When I look at a painting I know someone painted it,
when I look at a building I know someone built it,
-I can't argue the fact that I can't see the builder of this building so therefore the builder does not exist,
-and I can't say that a brick truck collided with a cement truck, and this building was the outcome.

When I see creation I know there is a creator, I can't see Him but I know He exists. But what is even better is that He didn't just create the world and then leave, He left us a bible so we can know all about Him- in His bible it tells all about how He wants to know his creation on a personal level.

One day, when I was most angry with God and far from Him, He spoke a simple word into my heart that forever changed me. The word was "Maybe Jesus Christ really did die for your sins."
With that one word a great change came over me, and the darkness and hopelessness and hatred that filled my heart were driven out and replaced by love and peace and hope and joy, with an assurance of eternal well being. I found out a year later the Bible talks about this - it is called being born again. You can read about it in John's Gospel, Chapter 3.

God is not a theory for me. He is my Father who caused me to be born again through faith in His Son Jesus Christ, who He sent from heaven to pay the penalty for my sins, so that I might receive the gift of eternal life. I experience His presence in my life every day.

God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life. For this reason, at every time and in every place, God draws close to man. He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength. He calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family, the Church. To accomplish this, when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son as Redeemer and Savior. In his Son and through him, he invites men to become, in the Holy Spirit, his adopted children and thus heirs of his blessed life.

Because it gives them hope. Some people need to use God as a crutch too. It makes them feel like they aren't alone.
