Okay, here's the deal, I think she's been abandoned, so I took her under my wing and I want to reassure her that I'm not going to be leaving her. How can I do that, without making her think that I am? Oh, and I'd also like to know the breed, I think she's either a rotti or has rottweiler in her.

About figuring out the breed:
I work at Barnes and nobles. We have a large selecion of books on dogs, and breeds. I'm sure if you go in there, read about the different dogs you have in mind, and look at their behavior and compare the looks, colors, and behaviors with that of your new pooch :), then you'll def. figure it out!

I would say just treat the dog like a child. Hold it, reassure it with love, kisses, and hugs. Take it out with you places, and when you go out, leave your radio or tv on so it always feels comforted. It may take a while, but the dog will learn trust and how to relax again in your loving arms and the comfort of your reassuring unconditional love..

email me a picture of her from the side and the front and I can tell you the breed. Find a pillow and put a clean pillow case on it, rub some peant butter on it but only a tinny bit, and also sprinkle some of her fur on the pillow get a baby blanket and do the same thing but no pb. Get her in there nice and warm and then give her a clean stuffed toy with your hair on it. Go to the pet store and get a puppy bolster bed that's big enough and puppy food without byproduct and a puppy kong, pee pads, and a dr. Noise toy suitable for her size. Get an eye dropper and some milk substitute powder if she is really young and you will need to sign her up for some obedience and start to scocialize her at a puppy socialization group at her training. Make sure your trainer is one that never yanks or tugs the dog and that teaches you to train the dog rsther than does all the trains them self. Have fun and e mail for more help fuzzoe@yahoo.com

Try to find the rightful owners- take a photo and make a flyer...

Feed her by-hand only for a day or 2, let her spend lots of time with you. Where you'll probably have to go to work, take a blanket or old shirt with your smell (wear it for a day, then don't wash it) and put it in her box/kennel when you're gone.

As to breed, I need some more info- markings, size, a picture would be great. I'd suggest that if you can't find the owner, then take her to a vet- get her shots, basic physical, estimate of age. The vet may have a guess as to your baby's breed make-up.

Well since you dont want your puppy to feel that you are going to leave it all the time, you should hang out with it more so you can connect to her. For example: A kid has a puppy and she doesn't want it to feel lonely. But the child likes to play video games and never plays with the puppy. She realized that she hasent been playing with the puppy and decides to put everything down and play with her puppy. So you should do this unless you have something important to do. If there is nothing important to do ,you should play with the puppy and make it feel happy when it is sad. Never make it sad or unhappy because then it will not want to play with you that much.

Your first step is to try and find the rightful owners. She could have wandered away from home and someone is missing her very much. Post fliers and put an ad in the paper.

Its hard to make a guess at breed(s) without a photo.

we need a pict to determine breed. As far as not leaving her goes, crate train her. Most puppies mess up the house when left alone out of sadness, anger or lonliness. Also make sure you spent plenty on time with her. Try not to take her on any car rides for a while until she has gotten use to you.

Unless you're independently wealthy and can afford to stay with her 24/7, you're going to have to leave her sooner or later. Just leave her some toys to play with and play with her when you come back. Eventually she'll get used to the routine. Dogs are great ones for adjusting to routines.
