Jesus said that the world would hate us because of Him. (Uncertain of the percise verse but it is in the Book of Matthew.)
But don't be discouraged or angered, instead by happy. Because it is a good thing that we seem to be trampling on their toes. It is how lives are changed.

Are you kidding? Please go over your history books again, as the Church did not develop the first institutions of higher learning or the first hospitals. While the Church has funded some of these places, so has other religions and non-religious organizations. There were institutions for higher learning long before Jesus was even born and the Romans were in Israel.
Merely being a Christian does not remove the idea that leaders will not conduct themselves as a horrible dictator, just look to Hitler, the Spanish Inquisition, Witch trials, colonialism, missionary work that wipes out others' traditions and lives just because the 'natives' were not Christians.
Please review the atrocities of your own religion before attacking others beliefs as being horrible. All religions and beliefs have problems and fanatics, all have done horrible things because all are represented by men who may be good or evil.

The first higher school of learning and hospitals were fouded by muslims. While much of europe were living in huts and caves, muslims were living in palaces and mansions. While christians were burning witches and heretics on stakes, muslims were building hospitals, libraries and museums.
No one is attacking christianity. The problem with the christians is that when they attack other religion or philosophy, they call it freedom of speech but when someone criticize this action they say ptherwise.
Christians are also foremost in labelling other people as terrorists, savages, evils and heathens. If you read most of the christian literatures today, there is always this underlining message: christians are the ones to be saved and non-christians are doomed for hell which means NO salvation unless one is a christ-believer or worshipper.
And besides most attack against christianity come from the former christians themselves!!!

Here's a few interesting tidbits about Christianity for you:
The Inquisition/"Convert or Die" tactics across the world
Fully condoned that actions of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime (the church issued a [poor] apology in 1998 for what Hitler did, 50+ years after his death.)
You say Christianity is right, then explain that. And don't say "That was years ago" because WWII was in the last century, and the church CONDONED the slaughter of the 6+ million Jews and the countless other lives lost. There are still millions of people alive who still feel the effects of the concentration camps.

Yep, Terry, you're partly right. The early church did great work in preserving the arts, and furthering education. For that, I give it much credit.
Next you suggest that only kooks are Atheist, Castro and Stalin. Aren't you forgetting that many, if not most of our great scientists, doctors, archaeologists are non-believers. You're trying to make it look like only the rock bottom are not Christian.
You're condemning those who attack Christianity, while you're doing the exact same thing to those who are not Christian.
If you're looking for twisted minds, please use a mirror.

First of all Atheism does not create bad people and Atheist are not bad people. Atheist are just people who refuse to be brainwashed by religion. They are free thinkers with common sense. Being atheist does not mean you lack morals.
Also you said that Islam gave us 9/11. Well Christianity gave us the Crusades and many other wars and poverty that is responsible for millions of deaths.
Also I believe christian minds are twisted. Christians preach one thing and then do another. They try to convert others and they look at non christians as lower people.
So before you come on here defending your silly religion I suggest you do some research.

Why defend Christianity?
Don't you know that the Church, centuries ago, developed the inquisition to torture people of other faiths? Promoted the Crusades to wrest the holy land from the people that actually owned it? Established missions in third world countries to promote their religion at the point of a sword? Islam has given us the number zero, served as the repository for all sorts of human knowledge during the dark ages (caused by Christianity again). Atheism has given us science, reason and the enlightenment. Has your mind become so twisted by your beliefs that you don't know the difference between right and wrong anymore?
See I can do it too!!!!

So what you are saying is no other religion has ever contributed anything good to the world. You have lost your mind; step out side the trailer Bubba. Christianity has done just as much harm as it has good, just like every other religion. It's people that are the problem not religion itself. It's greed and lust for power that are the problem, and no religion can seem to stop those characteristics in mankind, in fact some of them just use religion to fuel it. Start thinking outside the box and maybe you won't be forced to ask stupid questions on Yahoo.

I think people attak the Church. You know, it is an Institution and as every Institution it risks to follow its own economical/political interests (and there is a little of Spiritual in all that. Jesus-the-Christ should be kept out from the Church -Insitution-). Inner Light.

Did Christians give us the library at Alexandria? Hippocrates gave us the foundation upon which we base much of our modern medicine...and I don't think the Greek friezes and sculptures so blatantly admired and copied later were done by Christians.
I'm not saying there aren't wonderful things rooted in Christianity...but there's a lot of good stuff everywhere, if you can look at it without blinders.
As for atheism...Douglas Adams...Steven Hawking...do those names ring any bells?
If people are attacking Christianity, it might be because they feel Christians are attacking them.

the 'church' was not the first with all of those examples, please go back and start again.
it has been responsible for some atrocious acts of violence and terror, from the witch trials (many were never anything to do with witches, for good or bad), the Spanish inquisition, the crusades; torturing, killing, abusing and in some cases, genocide.
SOME pockets of normal people who happened to be xians have indeed done good deeds.
but when your family, community, way of life [caring, loving, in harmony] have been systematically attacked, killed etc, you may have a tendency to attack that institution and some of the bigots who hide behind it.
anything to add?
blessed be
