I'll say this, but a lot of people won't like it. Americans in general lack a proper knowledge and respect of history. Islam is no more a Black man's religion than christianity, paganism, or Pastafarianism. People who convert to ANY religion that is not indigeneous of their ancestors are taking up ANOTHER peoples religion. If more American people were aware of where their beliefs came from and what they actually are, as opposed to what they profess to be, there'd be a lot less religious arguments and a lot less followers of the Abrahamic religions. Without knowledge, people search for answers and follow the scoundrel that says he has them.
I know you wrote this question directed towards Islam, but that is only ONE of the religions that suckers in ALL groups of people. Don't be so quick to defend any religion on account of what a few people did. Christians were the enslavers that christians freed the slaves from, and also people who granted reservations to the Native Americans that they forced from their homelands in order to create this nation. We can't classify any religion as better than others, because any religion is only as good as the people who practice it at the time. So in all reality, it's people, not religion, that are either good or bad, and not all people are the same.

As salaam Alaikum. I feel that you are more driven by emotion than facts . Islam does not start with the Arabs. Islam starts with Allah(God) himself in the beginning.
Yes Christianity is a white man made up religion. Jesus had nothing to do with Christianity. Jesus's stated in the Bible. Many will come in my name and decieve
Many ( America, Britain, France and Italy)
The 4 great beast you read in. The Book
Of Revelation .
Europeans has not been good representation in Jesus Christ message. They cannot even honor the true identity of the man let alone say the love the man

Good question. Islam is a racist religion which introduced slavery to the world. They were the first ones who even enslaved black people and kept african women as sex slaves. There was also, one time, a version of the koran that said anyone with dark skin was automatically an infidel (whether Muslim or not) and was destined for hell. But I guess some black people are just too thick and they convert, without even properley understanding the religion, due to an inferiority complex. They think that by becoming part of this big global islamic brotherhood, they can acquire a sense of worth and self-respect. pity.

I can only assume that the black people and relatives that you know of are and were living here in America have not experienced the brutal slavery of the Arabs of which you speak and have no experience with any other oppression than from the Christians here in America. In your grand parents' day and if they were living here in America they experienced segregation, lynchings, murders and all sorts of horrible laws to keep them from voting, decent housing,
public accommodations such as hotels, restaurants and even restrooms. All of this was under the rule of the ultra christian kkk and ultra christian conservatives and even the Dixiecrat's who broke away from the Democratic party when Presidents Kennedy and Johnson signed into law the equal rights amendment. The christian bible was used to justify all of the racist evils perpetrated against black people. Therefore many of them found solace with the American form of Islam known as the Black Muslims. Read the Autobiography of Malcolm X to get some better insights as to the history of that movement.

Have you ever heard of Louis Farrakhan and The Final Call garbage of a newspaper out of Chicago? They are poisoning the minds of the young black youth in the USA. They stand on corners and pass out this newspaper which the September 12, 2006, paper was just a hair short of treason in my book. They want a nation within a nation in the USA.
Thanks for your question. It is good to see the truth arise.

It is because the African American was enslaved by European Christians, and see Arab Islam as an alternative.
All the great monotheistic faiths originated in what we now call "Arab lands", slavery is mentioned, codified and institutionalized by all of the above faiths.
If you look to the Arab nations, you will not find a single large community of past slaves, that is because the remains no prejudices against "former slaves", they have integrated.
To the credit of the impressive Americans, they sent over 25 million slaves over the Atlantic, many more perished before arriving. The scale is important in determine the problem.

Excellent points. The reality is Elijah Muhammad saw an opportunity (to create a cult of a false religion, and gain followers, money and power) and took it. Muslims still practice slavery in Sudan and Mauritania.

Not only Arabs but Blacks also traded blacks as slaves in many places. But should the action of these people be blamed on islam? Islam is the only religion that incorporates into its teaching the destruction of slavery. If there were muslims involved in slavery, it is not because of islam but rather inspite of islam.
All throughout Saudi? I am here in Saudi Arabia and believe there is no slavery happening here today. Some princes and princesses in fact are black skin people. You find blacks here anywhere and everywhere and no one dares even to call them BLACKS.
If there are slavery happening in Mauritania or any other muslim countries, isn't it not happening also in christian places? Go to Kenya and Southern Sudan and you will see what I am talking about! Have you visited these muslim countries you are talking about? Or you are just taking your informations from bias islam-bashers and haters?
All you have are accussations without substansive proof. You just heard in the media that there is slavery going on somewhere in Mauritania and immediately you made the conclusion that since Mauritania is a muslim country it could also happen in other muslim countries especially Saudi Arabia!
It only shows you are not only a bigot islam-hater but also ignorant.
Have you visited us here in Saudi Arabia to have the nerve in accussing us of practicing slavery all throughout?

I have often wondered this from watching that TV show OZ. All the Moslems in that show were black. In Australia it is the same but not as prevalent...a few aboriginal boxers (Anthony Mundine) are well known Islamic converts and some refuse to take drug tests because of their religion. This raises questions about fairness in sport if Moslems refuse drug tests but that's another question. I really don't know but will check back here to see if someone else knows.

Some of this is explained through the dynamics of hatred. A person full of hate is unable to think and act rationally. It may not be so much an embrace of Islam as much as a rejection of the white man's religion perceived as Christianity.
So it is not surprising that they embrace a religion that is and was just as abusive towards black people as, say, slavery was in this country.
This dynamic of hate also explains why so many in this country continue to blindly support the Democratic party, believing the lies told them over the last 50 years, when in fact it was the Republicans that passed laws that gave them more and more opportunities and freedoms.
It is easy -- REAL easy to manipulate and control people through hatred and its associated concepts; fear, distrust, etc.
