It depends on the situation. I did set mine free bc I thought that he was not happy with me, so I left. There were other things that led up to it as well, but when I over heard a conversation he had on the phone, it set me over the edge. Now he is back to stay and we are engaged. It is best sometimes, but sometimes they will take it as you do not want to be with them and you take a chance of losing them forever.

I set the one guy I was really into free. Because I was young and had soo many doubts at the time. There was a bit of an age difference and as much as I told myself it didn't matter. But there was the rational part of me always saying that this man is at the age for marriage and settling down and things like that. I mean I still had and still have more growing to do before I'm ever at that point myself. I still think about him, and at times think what if. But at the same time, the reality of me handling such a serious relationship at such a young age, still frightens me. I have to admit it, in a way its sort of like torture thinking of him with someone else right now, while I'm slowly moving forward in my life. But at the same time, I cared for him enough to find someone else and I wish him all the happiness.

If a relationship is hard, then let it be. The hallmarks of a relationship thats going somewhere is that it flows! Just look forward to just that, it will come. I learned early not to knock my head against the wall, cause its too much anxiety. You can choose in life the smooth path, at the very least in the early stages of love. Are you a head banger???? or do you have nothing better to do?

okay... yeah.. set them free is the right answer.... but screw the right answer... I say hold on to it.... try to work any problems out if both people want to... and then go from there.... now if it isn't a mutual thing and one person really wants out... then let them go.. it will never get better... but if it's only because you don't know where it's going to go... try to work it out first...

if you hold him back, the parting between the two of you might be bitter. i think its best if you set him free especially when he's willing to. loving a person whom you have to set free hurts but you got to deal with that and let the person grow...

It is better to sit down and talk to them then it is to listen to some quote. Why take a chance when you can know for sure???

If my love wanted to be free, I could do that, but never take her back again.

im in a long distance relationship
something i swore never to get into.
i really liked the guy but i couldnt handle loving someone so far away.
so i dumped him before feelings were made.
although we already loved each other and he came back because he loved me.
if he loves you he will come back.

That saying is completely true - you don't own them and they have free will . . . you can't make anyone love you - and trying to force them to stay will only make them resent you.
