I think it's more difficult to run in the sand or through the woods. If this is not available then grass will give you the better workout.

It will be more difficult to run on grass because any surface that has more "give" in it than concrete will cause you to spend more energy moving in the direction you want to go.

Five days is a long time to go without exercising. You probably should expect a little bit of a drop-off in your time, but that, of course, is temporary.

Personally I would reccomend the grass because it is a tougher workout and it won't destroy your knees as easily.

In grass there is a chance of hitting a hole and falling. So I would go with the side walk. Sand is a better work out but you may not be close to a beach.

Any grass longer than an inch or so will add some drag to picking up your feet, so running on the grass will provide a slightly harder workout.

If you are a nature lover, I think running on green grass (bare footed) may give a charming feelings while jogging(Obviously on stone free grass).
But otherwise side walk running is scientific I think, because u will be able to run fast(bcos of > friction!) with better balance!

If you want to choose between the two run on grass. You can probably do any workout on grass that you can do on sidewalks, try running laps on soccer fields or find a long dirt trails. However running on sidewalks is much harder on your legs and can cause shinsplints.

I think it is more difficult to run in the grass just because it is rougher and more uneven ground, but it is a lot better for your legs if you run in the grass because of the extra cushion.
