You know, my cat does the very same thing. When I'm in bed, he'll crawl up beside me, and if I don't give him attention he'll first start with "kneading" my arm and then he'll start gently biting my arm. I usually just give him a pet and then turn over and completely ignore him so that he goes away.

My friend has a cat who also does this, but more aggressively. She ended up asking the Vet about it and they suggested that she keep a squirty bottle of water next to her for a few days and everytime that her cat exhibited this behavior she was to squirt her gently on the head. It actually worked...in about four days, the cat stopped with the biting. She's also used the same technique for things like scratching the furniture, getting on the counter, etc., and her cat seems happy and well adjusted. So...you could try that method, it was recommended by a Vet, and I have seen that it works. Good luck.

Your cat is telling you that he/she wants to be pet. They don't mean any harm but would like some attention from the people they love. Don't slap or swat your cat, that's the worse thing you can do. If you don't have time to sit and pet them tell them so, they understand more than you think they do. If you hit the cat you will just make them mean. I have 30 cats and they give love bites all the time so I make sure I take time out to show them love by petting them and talking to them. A good time to sit and pet them is when your watching t.v., they will sit and sleep next to you when your finished petting. They love soft massages too.

Tell her "No!" when she bites and loudly clap your hands at her. And if that makes her run out of the room, DON'T chase after her. The idea is to give her the message that biting is not the correct way to get your attention.

If she comes back into the room and meows, puts her paw on your arm, or does something else that you figure is OK to get your attention, that's the time to get up and find out what she wants.

Give your cat more attention. My cat is mad if you run from once side of the house to another shouting "wee" my cat finds it very enjoyable as he justs chases you. or on the other hand if the at wants something to do you couls get the cat a scratching post or some toys. cat nip seems to work well aswell as poppy (my get) can just run around in
circles happily after some catnip :) !!!

Don't ignore her? My two girls admittedly don't bite, but it's not hard to give them what they see as attention. If I'm sitting on the sofa watching telly, for example, I just have to put a foot out, they rub themselves against me and think they are getting loads of cuddles! If I'm reading in bed I just put a hand out and they do the same thing. If I'm doing something else in bed though - they just have to put up with being ignored!

Pay more attention to the little Hitler. My cat used to attack our feet in the middle of the night. We eventually got a kitten, as it was clear that she was lonely, and now she is the most well behaved, and happy cat in the world.

You should try to figure out what she wants. Is it food, attention, play, outdoors, a treat or entertainment? I would grab her up in my arms, give her a big hug and some kisses and put her down, then ignore her for a few minutes. Is she jealous of your computer?

Give her more touch. She's feeling ignored, so you need to do some gentle physical contact, and maybe a whispered word or two to her a lot more often than what anyone is currently doing.

i have twin siamese cats and one of them is very clingy towards me and follows me everywhere and scratches and pulls on my arm if i dont make a fuss of him.

i just give him a few minutes stroking and affection and he usually settles down after a while. he wakes me up every morning like this and at bedtime he does it because he knows its time to go upstairs to bed and he always gets in bed with me at night.

alternatively he may just be trying to tell me that his food bowl or water bowl are empty or that the litter tray is dirty or if i have shut the bedroom door he wants it opened.

cats are very intelligent and do these things as a way of telling us what they want.

so you will have to put up with it of you want to keep the cat.maybe in time he/she will settle down. maybe it feels insecure and just needs reasurring a little bit.

there are several sites you can go on to on the net about cat behaviour maybe they can give you some insight in how to deal with this.
