then, in non-vague terms. I fail to see how anything eternal can be exciting.

I think above all, infinity is the hardest thing for us to understand. We have to move away totally from our knowledge of what time is and move into timelessness.
Not only that - but God Himself is infinate. There is no beginning and no end to God. Once we understand that, we can BEGIN to see what eternity will be. Although we will experience it - we can still only imagine while we are there, what God has planned for us.
What we know here is just a speck of sand compared to the entire vastness of the dessert...

heaven is going to be great!!

blessings :)

There are so many angles to this.

The statement isn't a typical one with Christians that I know. It's almost as if the statement was hurried, the last part added to finish a sentence.

I am not sure how we or anyone else on earth would know what 'eternal bliss' was. We might be able to guess, or imagine, but what is it like? I dunno!

Now your last statement:
"I fail to see how anything eternal can be exciting."

Really? I mean, after reading what God has in store for those who trust Him? No sickness, no growing old, no death, no broken bones, no disease, no suffering of any kind.

Add to that: Whatever other abilities that we are to have without having death and sin in the way.

It makes me wonder why people think that this universe is so boring? Do you ever look at the pictures provided by NASA especially those taken by the Hubble telescope? Is that boring? Or did you ever look at the details on a leaf? How it is formed and how it works?

And then there is the place where people like me will live, in New Jerusalem. The gates are always open, but to what? What's outside of this city that measures 1400x1400x1400 miles? Why are the angels standing at the walls? What difference would it make if I went out of the southern gate or the northern gate?

Do you REALLY think it would be boring? Really? God made the whole universe, and it will have an end. What will God make after that, after all the endings of things have ended? And all those who are not His are out of the way, and all sin in whatever form it is in is gone? Including the sin that is in us now? How come everyone thinks God is so limited and is incapable of fascinating people? When did that start?

I dunno.

I have always imagined Heaven, as living the best days of my life again, and then new experiences I never had the opportunity to see before. Perhaps reliving great parts of history, seeing my Grandmother as a child, or being able to run with the cheetahs sorta thing. Perfect Peace. I could see how this could be an eternal experience.

I think the problem is that people think we will be floating on clouds and playing harps forever. But we will have work to do and projects to complete. Our lives will never be boring because there will be people to meet and animals to play with, Places to go and new powers to master. God will restore the earth to it's pristine condition and we will be able to go anywhere and explore it. Who knows? we might even have other planets to vacation on or entire new universes to zip over to. All with no fear of anything bad happening to us. We will get to talk to interesting people and have great parties and feasts. The Bible says heaven is better than anything we can imagine and I can imagine all the stuff I just mentioned so imagine orders of magnitude better than that. There is a book called 'Heaven' by Randy Alcorn that explains lot of this. borrow it from the library if you don't want to buy it. it is an interesting read. Hope this helps.

It won't need to be exciting. It won't need to be anything but love.

Love is the purest, most altruistic emotion - it is peace and serenity. Excitement is a useful emotion for a corporeal being living in a linear and temporal existence.

But of what use is it in an ever-present eternity, one that does not have a yesterday or tomorrow? The overwhelming power of love will suffice.

It is a wonderful thing to be able to believe in unbelievable. With God's plan the eternal life is going to be wonderful and because we need to surrender our free will then and trust Him and have faith in Him there is not going to be anything evil.

God gives us new heavenly bodies when we enter to heaven. : )

God's creation is vast - we never get bored of exploring it!
God's love, wisdom and everything in eternity is and will
be even more vast! Plenty to explore and do - even more
than in this short life!
This life has only very small samples of eternity in it!

Imagine exploring the wonders of the entire universe, one planet at a time. That could keep you busy for a good while.
