It IS fallacious, in my opinion, because of the problem of the identity of "God".
Many people who call upon God, think that they are thinking about the same "person" as each other, e.g. muslims and jews, when if fact they have completely differing concepts of God.
It is a result of spurious thinking, whereby all who invoke God first assert his existence prior to defining "him".
So as you said, "if there is a god what if hes not what you bargained for?".
There is an infinite amount of "possible" supernatural entities, the probability that you, randomly, back the "right" one is slim to none.

There is another type of wager called the Atheist's Wager which states as follows
You should live your life and try to make the world a better place for your being in it, whether or not you believe in God. If there is no God, you have lost nothing and will be remembered fondly by those you left behind. If there is a benevolent God, he may judge you on your merits coupled with your commitments, and not just on whether or not you believed in him.
I think I'll stick to this.

Hebrews 11:1 "Now Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the EVIDENCE of things not seen".
I have had many things happen in my life, and seen many things happen in others lives, that could not have happened apart from the Lord. You know I used to be mentally ill? According to all doctors and textbooks I shouldnt be able to live in society as others do. But once I trusted that God could heal me, and truly believed He was gonna do it, I've been well! There's still those who don't believe this actually happened, they keep saying there's no way anyone can ever recover from schizophrenia. But here I stand today. I've been to the depths of that illness, but it no longer has its grip on me. And I praise God for that!
And I have come to realize, when I look back on my life so far, that in those times when I have desired to be completely in God's will, and followed it, I have been the most happy and full of joy! So kudos to the only 2 other people who stood up against common belief!

Pascals Wager isn't about accepting a supernatural entity, it's about accepting someone else's perspective. It has nothing to do with any god(s). It's about conformity.

This may be true, but one day we will know. For me, living the Christian life has given me enjoyment. I don't see that I have missed anything. I wasn't happy "in the world" but I am happy now.

I find it funny that everyone thinks thier god is the right one, when there are hundreds of them out there. Really, how do you know your god is the one the helps you out?
