And Angels have no free will, how did Lucifer rebel?

The more important question is: if the angels were perfect and living in heaven but were STILL able to rebel, what's going to happen to the humans who do so once they reach heaven? Do they get kicked back to hell, or are they allowed to repent and stay? And if sinners are allowed to remain in hell until they reform, why should anyone have been sent to hell in the first place?

But of course, this is a bit like arguing what color the Easter Bunny's fur really is....

If Lucifer rebelled, that implies that angels had free will. I would think that being in the presence of God would cause you to obey without question. The angels just do it, they don't live on faith, they already know God is God.

And I don't know that eating from the tree of life gained us free will. I thought we were created that way.

I read this really neat book by Roger Elwood called "Angelwalk". It talks about this angel who wanted to visit heaven to see what Lucifer had been up to. This particular angel didn't think Lucifer was all bad so God allowed the angel to go check things out for himself. Just in my opinion alone which is probably something you don't want to hear but I'm going to say that I think angels themselves have free will just as man does.

Man did not gain free will by eating of the tree of life.
Man had free will before he ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Man forsakes free will and comes under the bondage of sin when he chooses to sin.
Only Jesus Christ can set a man free to do right.
How do you say the angels have no free will when the Bible clearly testifies that Lucifer chose to rebel against God?

" How you have fallen from heaven,
O morning star, son of the dawn!
You have been cast down to the earth,
you who once laid low the nations!
You said in your heart,
"I will ascend to heaven;
I will raise my throne
above the stars of God;
I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,
on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain.
I will ascend above the tops of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High."
But you are brought down to the grave,
to the depths of the pit."

Isaiah 14:12-15

The above passage is where the name Lucifer is derived from - being from the Latin "morning star"

Please observe how many times the phrase "I will" appears. How do you say he had no free will?

Man already had free will.He was created with it. He did not get if from eating of the tree. The tree of knowledge of good and evil was the tree that they ate from. God banished them so they would not eat of the tree of life and be doomed to eternity with sin.
As for Lucifer, it is possible that the angels have free will but are created to be servants and not heirs. Their role in the cosmic layout is different than ours. There is no scripture explaining this so your question is quite valid. We will have to ask when we get there.

Where does it say in the bible that angels have no free will ?
They are a separate creation from earthly life anyway, and there is precious little about their genesis in the bible. Maybe rebellion should be a "no-brainer" no-no for them, as they are fully aware of God's reality, power and goodness. According to Revelation 12 about 1/3 rebelled with Satan.

Not free will. We got the knowledge of good and evil. Something we should all be very thankful for. (Can a get an "Amen" from all the Gnostics in the house?)

Genesis 2:9 (New International Version)
9 And the LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

When I accepted Christ, I ate of the tree of life. I have been given this promise.

Free will is not from the tree of Life, but Free will allows you to partake of it, thanks to the sacrifice that God prepared for us.
Free will comes from God, as his image.
It was free will that allowed Eve to eat of the tree of Knowledge of good and evil.
Therefore, free will existed BEFORE any laws of God were broke.

Free will is the truth in Christ.
It is what one chooses to do with that free will that determines how the good or evil will be done.
Angels have free will. They just do not have the lust of the flesh.

I'm not trying to be condisending and I'm sure it's a honest mistake on your part but of the 2 Trees in Eden didn't Eve then Adam eat from the Treee of Knowledge? I could be wrong though and if I am I apologise.

Good question. The answer is simple:

We don't have all the answers. God has not revealed Himself to us fully as of yet. But someday He will....praise God.

Like I always say, if we knew all there was to know about God.....then we would be equal to God.
