Let him hold a warm washcloth to the ear while you take him to the doctor. If are waiting to go to an appointment you can use a heating pad, but make sure it's low and put a towel between his head and the pad so it's not too hot for his young skin.

We had two boys who suffered with this pain. It is a short lived condition known as "water behind the ears". This is similar to a cold or flu, but based inside the ear canal.

Why they call it water BEHIND the ears is puzzling, but your pediatrician can prescribe an inexpensive anti-biotic that will clear it up and leave no after affects.

bless his little heart that sucks, i have children and the only thing you can do is you can put olive oil on a cotton ball and put it in his ears then have him lay on a heating pad to his head like wrap it around his head and just hold him till you can get him to the doctor for some medicine.
