God doesn't need to eat, so he needs no teeth. He doesn't need a mouth to speak - he "speaks" to the hearts and minds of people, according to christians, so he doesn't need a tongue or mouth. He doesn't need internal organs. He doesn't need genitalia as he doesn't have sex or need to go to the toilet. He doesn't need feet as he is omnipotent, so he doesn't need to go anywhere - he's already everywhere. So, really, if we were made in "his" image, we'd be....nothing physcial at all!

Excellent point, and one I think many people miss.

The only thing I think is "his/her/its image" is really the soul, or perhaps one should call it a higher consciousness.

I've seen evidence that at least some mammals think (independent of instinct), so I'd have to include a number of animals in this group. (Humans just seem to be the ones that have done the most with it.)

For having never seen God, many people make bold suppositions. However, Moses with 73 others saw God:

Exodus 24:10 "And they saw the God of Israel: and [there was] under his FEET as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in clearness."

That God is the Great I AM, and Jesus says "Before Abraham, I AM." Claiming to be God almost got Him stoned.

Studies of galactic movements show they are all departing away from Earth's galaxy. That means the last of God's creation is in the center of his creation; it is to be His masterpiece. That is why God said: "let us make man in our image, after our likeness", we are special, His crowning act.

Of course God is a creator and doesn't have to give birth, but nevertheless, God has blessed us. And in our stunted state, He views us as perfect because He knows what we will be again in the Resurrection of the righteous.

Obviously, God didn't create us in his image. If there is a god at all.
You're counting too much on the bible; it isn't very reliable. Think about it; it's been passed down through more than 2000 years of being edited and added to by scholors and scribes and cultures. It shouldn't be relied upon for anything rational.

Joe begat Fred, Fred begat Gary, Gary begat William, William begat Peter and so forth. There must of been some kind of female host, invisible of course, to provide the womb, or the men just blew them out of their @sses. Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the back of an @ss, its symbolic.

God is a spiritual being. When he created Adam and Eve, they were created in his image, living souls.

Yet, when they became disobedient, because of sin, they left their natural estate as spiritual being, becoming unlike God or seperated from God because his Spirit was removed from them. They became seperated from God because of sin.

God is life that is eternal. When Adam and Eve sinned, they died just as God warned them would happen if they ate of the tree of good and evil. And by dying, is having God's spirit removed and to be held captive in death.

And because they were held under death, they were no longer of his image, sinless and perfect, but became held under the yoke of death.

So it was through God's spirit that men were of the image of God. And man chose a life of disobedience over a life that would last forever.

Why don't you ask Him?
He is the One who testifies it is so:

" Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them."

Genesis 1:26-27

Sounds like you have come under the sway of the one who seduced Eve:
" Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' "
"You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." "
Genesis 3:1-5

Why is it men are so slow to learn the folly of refusing to believe God?

The image of God is more a matter of our souls, not necessarily our physical characteristics. God has non-physical qualities about him that he has passed onto us. Mankind is unique from animals in that we have things like developed societies, history, culture, art, justice, morality, technology, science, philosophy, transcendence of environment, a sense of self-awareness, and most importantly; religion and knowledge of God.

We're made in the image of the God in the sense that He made us in some ways like Him. For example, we have a spirit, unlike the rest of creation. We also have the abilities to feel, reason, and communicate.

With God things are spiritual not natural. He made us in His spiritual image. We are all Gods creation.
