It is not imprecise. Men have distorted it with leaning upon their own understanding, getting a completely distorted view.

Letting other scriptures together explain what is meant lets the Bible interpret itself. We get a clear, concise meaning then.

Have you ever noticed a collection of clergy on TV try to answer a Biblical question? What should be a simple answer of turning to an appropriate scripture turns into minutes of hemming and hawing with references to professors of books nobody reads. They left the Word of God long ago and could not find it again with a road map. To look to them to explain the Bible is truly the fastest way to a ditch.

Here is a simple test. Read Psalms 83:18. Then go to a clergyman and ask why doesn't everyone use that name? The confusion will astound you.

You've actually answered the question...it is man's interpretation that is imprecise...not God's meaning.

We are flawed so our interpretation of the scripture can be flawed as well. Each person reading into it what they want or what works for them. It's chaotic.

This is one of the reasons I'm a convert to Catholicism. The scriptures meanings are given to us from 2000 years of understanding and teachings. They have been handed down by many holy men...even those who knew Christ. This gives Catholics an authority to go to. We do not have to figure it out and rely on our own flawed sense to interpret God's word. We are protected within the authority of the Church.

I took a course on the Old Testament which used the Documentary Hypothesis to interpret the Bible. It doesn't suggest that G-d wrote it himself...
It uses a sociohistorical perspective:
The OT/Tanakh was written by several people. You can tell who's writing what section by the name of G-d they use. They skew the stories they tell in order to get their own points across, which oftentime correspond with things happening to the Israelites at the time.
(And the reason the OT is in a different order in the Christian Bible than in the Jewish one is that the Christians wanted to get a different point across-- that Jesus was coming, and reorganizing the stories helped to do so)

Why such a wide rage (think you meant range) because mankind tends to "try " to make the Bible fit -- the way they "want" to live- not by God's instruction. If you show these same people the truth- they will say:
Well that is just your beliefs...
Well my family always believed this way & I am NOT changing-
Well that was for the Jews- not us..
Well that was for Israelites..not us
My favorite-- We are covered by Grace- that no longer applies..
Many do attend church & appear to be "Followers of Christ" but most the time very rarely pick up the Bible-therefore they are following men blindly-- Letting someone have control of their Salvation by letting men-tell them what it says- instead of reading it yourself. For those that truly want to find God's truth you must study-- we are not just to read it straight through..but study it--

Isaiah 28:9-10 says

9Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
10For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

God's true followers will pray for His guidance in searching for the truth -- in the Bible.

The Word of God in its original autographs are perfect and with out error. Translation into any language will be man's translation., therefore subject to mans understanding. Now, all these interpretations you hear out there are not from God, but man. There is one and only one correct interpretation-and you may not have heard it.

Obviously, if it was the word of god, it would be much more precise than it is. It isn't actually the word of god; the bible has been passed down through more than 2000 years of editing and adding to by scholors and scribes and regimes in power. Think about it; the bible has been mutulated from its original, benign form, into how it is today; a bronze age work of violent literary fiction.

Its not imprcise, we are. Its Heavenly language and principle being translated into human terms and concepts and it is WE that fail, not God. God shared all these concepts with men, and they, by the Holy Spirit, did their best to communicate it. But you also have to remember that Heavenly truth isnt read and learned, it is revealed from God.

Scripture is perfect enough to awe any scholar, and human enough to give any fool doubt.

there is nothing wrong with God's Word , God's Word says what It says . the trouble comes from people . People seem to want to try to bend God's Word to say what they want to believe , to make It fit them. God's Word has always said what It has always said. There is only one interpretation ,Gods. which comes comes through the Holy Spirit and not man's feeble mind.

If you find a pastor that interprets from the original languages, the Bible is very precise.

Satan is the cause for bad translations and confusion.
Satan's goal is to decieve people and take them away from Doctrine that would help solve their problems and give them peace.

Bible WAS the word of Allah, the only god that exists, till it was distorted.

If you are searching for precise source, then return to Quran, it was saved by its owner, Allah, from distortion and will be saved by Him till the Judgment Day, this is a promise by Allah in his Quran.
