Does it bother them when we point out how illogical their beliefs are?

Or is it when we shove the history of their religion under their nose so they're faced with it's awful past and lack of historical credibility?

I know there are many christians who actually enjoy a robust debate.

But isn't it a bit of a worry when people aren't happy to discuss their beliefs with those who feel differently to them?

Dosn't it show a bit of insecurity in their commitment to their faith?

What have they got to fear from us other than discovering facts that they may not have been aware of before?

............or do they think Satan sent us here to mock them?

How funny!

Can I just point out, to Scott B, that to "generalize" something, you have to include everyone in that category. When you say "some Christians" that isn't generalization, it's factual. Some segment of any group, including Atheists, can be ignorant and rude and crass. The point Atheists are trying to make is that they have a right to discuss religion and spirituality, just as much as Christians or anyone else. It seems, however, that some (note the use of "some" there) Christians want nobody but other Christians to be here, so they will never have to hear dissent from their beliefs. And that, quite honestly, is just blatant cowardice and insecurity.

Wow, generalize much? I am first to agree some Christians can't readily either defend their faith, or hold their emotion in check when attempting to debate. That being said, I've seen the same thing from some so-called atheists as well. So, let's at least meet halfway on that one. But your "question" (or should I say cleverly concealed dig at Christians?) asserts that atheists have been able to "point out how illogical thier beliefs are...". Just to post that statement shows how little you understand about our "beliefs". I don't believe in God, I know him to exist, knowledge is logic, so I don't consider my knowledge of God's existence illogical. There are a lot of things I can't personally prove to someone else that I "know" exist. But, then I wasn't afraid to seek with an open heart in the first place. The difference in you and a "believer" is that we were willing to use faith and seek honestly for the truth. Understanding the only way to discover truth is to seek it out. Your fear is not my problem.

I think you hit the nail on the head - for a good few Christians anyway.

Some seem to feel that not believing in God is the same as being against god, and questioning their beliefs is the same as attacking them.

And yes, we were sent by Satan.

Because some Christians do not have the fruit of the Spirit...patience and love. Atheist do not believe in God because we as Christians give them reason not to. We are suppose to be lights to them...instead we sit around judging and speaking agaisnt them. This is something Jesus never did. On behalf of Christians, I deeply apologize to you Atheist, and I am sorry we haven't been better examples to you guys.

My sister should be in this debate. No, on 2nd thought, I guess you do not need to be insulted outrageously for causing her to think and to doubt her dumb brand of Christianity. They are tyrants who want to force their beliefs upon everyone, but no one else is supposed to be able to differ with them. They have double standards and can do things contrary to their own Bible, especially lying about atheists and breaking the Golden Rule. They just make fools of themselves with such nonsense.

satan didn't send me here, but he did send me to bury those dinosaur bones!

i really respect the christians who know the history of their religion, the bloodshed and evil involved with it, and the pagan roots of it all, and can still believe in it. that shows they are making an educated choice and choose to follow the positive aspects of it, and aren't just following blindly like many.

Because we throw doubts into their religion and they're too sensitive to handle it. If religion makes people this sensitive, its one more strike against getting involved in it. I'd rather not be that weak.

- No. It does bother me that atheists are illogical in their arguments though.
- like science has all the answers and is always correct, lol
- love a good debate...struggle to find one here
- happy to discuss, would like the same courtesy in return, not just fsm's and faeries
- Nope
- facts ? from atheists ? Oh, you mean "facts" as you see them. Usually your questions begin by saying "most christians say that..." at the start. Is that a fact ?

I am glad they are here, so they can hear a daily dose of our Wonderful Lord and Saviour

urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. As you make your requests, plead for God's mercy upon them, and give thanks. Pray this way for kings and all others who are in authority, so that we can live in peace and quietness, in godliness and dignity.

1 Timothy 2:1-2 NLT

Praying effectively
