yes, she is obese for her age and height. im six feet tall and i weigh that much, and IM overweight.
im trying to lose it off with an hour of squash in the morning, then swimming, maybe 500 skips on the skipping rope in the evening. if shes going to a gym, tell her to avoid weights, cause they may cuse her to bulk up with muscles befeore she loses flab, which will make her humungous.
also, tell her to watch what she eats. she need not nesecarily cut out on carbs, oily stuff, etc, but eat less of it, not eat between meals, eat three meals a day with controlled, filling-but-not-too-heavy quantities.

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry. I understand that giving honest answers is invariably embarassing.

A BMI (Body Mass Index) of 18.5-25 is considered healthy. 25-30 is considered overweight. More than 30 is considered obese, for anyone of any age.

Your friend has a BMI of 30.7. Unless she has muscles like an Olympic woman weight lifter, she's obese and should try to get healthier.
