I had a kidney stone the size of a baseball (just 1 huge stone!) and it landed me in the hospit for 3 days in October. It took 3 months, 4 lithotripsies, and 1 surgery for it to finally pass. Since then, I have done the 24 hr urine collection, and been to the doc for the 6 month check up.... The results of the urine collection show that I have too much protien and calcium!!! What type of a diet shoud I be eating?

I will do pretty much anything to prevent another kidney stone.

I've noticed everyone has suggested drinking plently of water... I drink more water than what is "advised". I only drink 2-3 sodas per week, and try to advoid milk.

consider a modified vegetarian diet. Eat only fish for meat, stay away from all other forms of meat.

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry.

Interesting. Kidney stones are very rare in women (less than 1% of the 10% that affect the entire population), and the biggest stone on record was only as big as a golf ball.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
