"I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God."

Would they be willing to turn in other illegals for breaking our laws?

For the illegals responding, this is the oath that the US Government requires for a non-citizen person to take if they wish to become a citizen of the United States of America.

The oath that I have shown is from our National government codes. Check out the link.

Legal immigrants gladly take this oath!

I live in a highly populated Hispanic area. I have known and worked with illegals for many years. I have also worked with Mexicans that have papers and are here legally. Not one of them have any intentions of becoming legal. They told me they are here to make money and when they get what they need, they will go back home. So I don't believe the majority of them want to become citizens.

There are 60,000 immigrants in the U.S. military. They represent two percent of the total service personnel on active duty. About half are noncitizens, with 15,880 in the navy; of those, 5,046 are from the Philippines. More than 6,000 Marines are noncitizens, with the largest group, 1,452, from Mexico.
A flood of inquiries from Mexicans and other foreigners prompted the military to state that it will only accept U.S. legal residents and citizens at this time. Beyond the societal benefits of citizenship, non-citizens in the military cannot become officers, and must leave the military after eight years of service.----

--i believe many illegals would indeed take Uncle Sam up on the offer. But seeing as they r not allowed to, then they can just be criminalized & stereotyped!!!

Well I am not illegal and I honestly wouldn't be able to take the oath. Don't get me wrong, I love the U.S., it has been my home but I wouldn't be able to take this oath and honestly believe in it and abide by i There are also many citizens who would not be willing, many born here, and there are also many born citizens who feel a loyalty towards other countries. I don't believe undocumented people come here just for the heck of it and to be 'criminals'. They come here as a way of survival. Trust me, they wouldn't put their life at risk just to bother a country...
If this is a question where you are not really looking for a estimation, they please try to make your point. If you are asking for an estimation, it would be hard because it is on a personal note. Many undocumented immigrants are from different countries, believe different ideas, it would be difficult to answer...

Just to legalize their stay, I think all illegals will take their oath as what written by the question sender. If they have risked their lives crossing the borders, paid handsome money to human smugglers, etc., taking an oath is just raising their right hands and they're in!

But what should be done is alright, those who would like to legalize your stay. go to that area. Enlist yourselves and your're going to Irag! To who refused will be refused legalization. Simple, isn;t it?

That is the oath given when entering this country legally. So, the answer to your question should be everyone.

wow, I'm an American and I never had to do this. Did you?

And the bad thing about it that almost all Americans who were born here, the ones who are criminals, they never had to take this oath.

Don't know but to many taking an oath means nothing

Some of the older ones (55 to 80 years of age) possibly would but most of these younger illegals act like a pack of drunken, doped up thugs who follow no laws.
