You need a major attitude change, if you don't even like yourself how can you expect the opposite sex to?
Confidence and humour are very attractive qualities to women; work on improving them.
At the same time keep yourself fit, healthy and involved in activities where you have a chance of meeting women.

To Increase Confidence:
1. Make a list of your strong points.
All the positive things about yourself and the things that you are good at doing. Think of compliments you have received or things that come easily to you. It doesn't matter what it is, if it's good, write it down.
2. Choose two of those things that you want to work on to improve even more.
It's important to succeed and by concentrating on the areas you are already good at you will have a better chance of becoming even more sure of yourself. Remember that success builds upon success.
3. Exude confidence even if you don't feel like it.
Talk to yourself in an encouraging way and stay away from negative thoughts and people as you can.
Instead surround yourself with positive, confident, and successful people. This will become a habit and one that will build confidence.
4. Look at yourself in a different way than you are used to doing.
It can change your life and help your confidence level to rise. See yourself as the self confident person you want to be and before you know it you will become that person.
If you have a set-back do not let it get the best of you. Remember the times when you exhibited self confidence and how good it felt and then try again and each time will help you to build confidence and confidence building will become a way of life.

Seriously, do you only want to hang out with girls who won't settle for anything less than Brad Pitt? Even if you could get those kinds of girls, both you and they would only be setting yourselves up for disappointment.
Focus on being the best person you can be. Do things right, do the right things, and be (aside from your appearance) the best person you can. Part of that is taking care of yourself...we all get older, but that's no excuse to just let everything go. Short and bald is one thing, short and bald with a beer gut that makes you look pregnant is another thing altogether.
If you KNOW that you're doing allright by yourself, then you know that you're a worthwhile person to get to know and to be with. That should lead to some serious self-confidence. Not arrogance...just secure self-assurance.
And lots of girls find that sexy.

Working on your prespective might help.
Have you ever seen pictiues of Benjamin Franklin, for instance? Not the most striking man physically, but where would we be without his contributions?
And, my friend, in the end it IS all about contribution. Just focus on being sure that this world is somehow a better place for having had you in it and the other stuff will fade out of the picture, (especially as you get older...trust me on this one, I am older than dirt).

Look around, there are people with much worse imperfections. You could be hugely obese, or missing a limb, or have a horrible skin condition, or some type of disfigurement. You probably look great compared to lots of people!
Think about how there are people worse off than you who still maintain a positive attitude--people with terminal illnesses, abusive families, war-stricken countries, extreme poverty, etc.--let them be your inspiration. When I think about that, it makes me feel pretty shallow for even caring about something like my appearance.

Not everyone judge a person by the look, at least I don't. The most important thing is you must have a kind heart, friendly and be confident of yourself, you will still have a lot of friends around you, I am sure.

Being unhappy about your appearance is common as you grow older.
Learning to accept the changes or doing something about them is your choice.
Personally, I like to see what wonderful things happen to me overnight. I don't wear makeup, dress in the latest fashion, or drive the coolest SUV. My friends accept me because I accept myself.
Those who base their friendship on looks or material things do not stay long in my life.
