Because their very foundation is based on the belief that there is only one God and that anyone who says anything else is wrong.
As long as they keep turning to the bible instead of thinking for themselves, they will continue to act as they do.
The best Christians I've known are the ones who quit thinking what everyone told them to think, and actually started using the brains they were given.
Religion and thinking do not have to be mutually exclusive, but there's a reason Jesus referred to his followers as "sheep."

I think it's probably because most Christians today feel very threatened by other religions, particularly by Islam. So this sense of self-importance perhaps is just a defense mechanism of sorts. I would not read too much into this. I think its a temporary phase and it will go away one day. There have been and I am sure will continue to be, a big majority of Christians who are good, kind and considerate folks who tolerate and accept other religions very fairly.

All religions including Atheism feel that way. That is not only a Christian trait. Haven't you heard the followers of Islam? They want to kill everyone else. That is kind of extreme don't you think? The two most strident groups trying to convert others to their believe today is the Jehovah Witnesses and the Atheists. They are both out actively preaching and recruiting converts.

Well their book like all major religious books claim to be the only "true" religion so thats why
and also most live in the US and well the US has a vast majority of Christians compared to other religions so most only see their own.

It's because they think theirs is the only correct religion and that everyone needs to be Christian, otherwise they are going to hell. And they "love" everybody so much that they feel an overwhelming need to convert us all so that none of us goes to hell.
There are a handful of Christians who don't think theirs is the only way, but I really don't understand why they believe that since it's what their New Testament teaches. Regardless, I wish more were like that.
And to people who think that it is normal for a religion to think their way is the only right way... Judaism doesn't teach that. I don't believe Hinduism teaches that. It is not normal.

The one and ONLY way ANYONE can call themselves a Christian and understand God's word
(1Co 2:14 But the natural(unredeamed) man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned).
Is In Romans 10:9 & 10. They have to put Jesus number one, Lord of their lives, and believe that God raised Jesus from the dead.
Being a Christian is a way of life, each person has their own walk and it is not right to impose your walk on another persons walk.
Php 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
My personal definition of Religion is man's way of worshiping God.
Being a Christian is having a personal one on one relationship and wanting others to feel the joy of knowing my daddy loves me. God is a loving heavenly Father, and more than anything wants kids that love him and each other.
Not religious people who think they know what God wants them to do and shove it down other peoples throats.
He does have conversation with his people He wants the best for his kids. Why wouldn't you want to be able to talk to the creator of the universe and ask "ok, dad what do you want me to do today"?

you have to believe that your way of thinking is the only or way or else that would cause doubt and confusion within the ranks and people wouldnt be willing to fork over money and their lives. the only right religion is the one thats right for you. your relationship with your god should be a personal one. it shouldnt matter what other people are practicing it shouldnt matter if you think they are wrong. god is supposed to be the judge of man not us so whichever religion you chose practice it be happy and keep it to yourself. have your relationship with god and when you die or the world ends then we will know which one is right.

it's not just Christians that do this unfortunately.
but alot (not all) of Christians seem to ascribe to the idea of "blind faith" and thus anything that conflicts with their faith is instantly dismissed be it another religion, science or anything else.
In short it is arrogance, but luckily there are those with their common sense who question anything laid before them, sometimes this helps to affirm their religion other times it pushes people away from it.
the problem I think is that they place too much importance in the religion and the church itself instead of the concepts behind it.

Well the way Jesus put it, it is the only one that will give eternity to someone.
That means for the others that they are not right!
And you were "raised a Christian"? You didn't know that?
Why are you more concerned for the world and less concerned about what Jesus said?
