"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" - Genesis 1:1

God, who is the Eternal Father, has a purpose for all things, as you state by quoting Isaiah 45:18. As to what that purpose is the bible tells us that it was made for a dwelling place for humans, the crown of creation.

Humans were made in the image of God (Genesis 1:26) to serve as God's representative on earth. The earth was made as our home so that we, being in God's similitude, would have a place to go forth and multiply (Genesis 1:28). In 1Kings 8:39 Heaven is described as the dwelling place of God, and so to is Earth the dwelling place of God's creation.

Also, the plan of redemption was set before the foundation of the world (Romans 13:8) and the faithful were also chosen before the world began (Ephesians 4), therefore it makes sense that the Eternal I AM would set a place for this plan to take place, including the battle of armageddon at the end of days.

Shalom.

God created the earth for all His creation to inhabit it not just mankind. In the new earth all creation will be restored as man is restored with a body from heaven (Romans 8:19-21)..

There was no purpose. Simply because the earth exists doesn't mean that God made it. In fact, in the world of rationality, it has been proven that God almost certianly does not exist.

Think of us as God's children, and the universe is a playground that God made for us. And Jesus and Satan are playground monitors. we are rewarded for good behavior and put in time-out for bad behavior.
