How do you as a Christian Woman resist temptation to dress sexy and revealing?

I am 25 years old and have recently lost 45 lbs. I have people telling me how great I look, and now I have the urge to show myself off. I like the feeling of having guys staring at me.

What are your thoughts?

Wooww well done you! I don't think there's anything wrong with dressing to show yourself off, as long as it doesn't attract the wrong sort of attention - don[t just wear short skirts and low cut jumpers - therre are other ways to look sexy and show yourself off.

but i'd say that with a non-christian hat on anyway - with the "christian" one on, there's probably not that much wrong with having guys look at you, as long as they are not tempted to act on it...immorally or whatever.

just have fun with it - but remember you can look sexy without looking slutty. and also remember that dressing provocatively might make guys look at you at first, but that's no basis for a relationship. so if you're looking for something that's more than skindeep, a guy wanting a more serious commitment might be put off by totally revealing outfits...maybe gives off the wrong message. so just dress to suit the occasion - and remembering you might be giving off those signals will probably make you conscious of the fact you could be, and you'll automatically dress just fine :)

Dress how you want to, not how other people tell you to. I'm about your age and I dress with what looks good and what is comfortable. Guys will stare at you no matter what you wear, don't worry about it.

As a woman I feel strongly that I am more than just a body, and I think that sometimes dressing in a certain way perpetuates the thinking that women are objects. I'm not a fan of that. But it's really not about religion. Overall I dress reasonably modestly I'd say, although I have no problem wearing a "revealing" bathing suit (isn't the nature of a bathing suit revealing itself?) to the beach or just a sports bra and shorts when I run. It's hot out and I'm not going to wear sweat pants and a heavy shirt for a five mile jog just because men have dirty minds.

Having someone stare at you because you are wearing something revealing isn't the kind of attention you want to get. That will just cause a man to lust after you and doing such causes him to sin, you don't want to be responsible for that. I'm not saying to wear a skirt to the floor or a long sleeve shirt in the middle of summer, but just be cautious not to wear something that will cause someone else to stumble or fall into sin. Celebrate the fact that you lost the weight! Girl I don't even know you and am proud of you for doing so! :) I used to dress like a hoochie..lol... when I was in the world and wasn't serving God. When I feel the temptation to do so again I just pray and declare that I am a new creation in Christ Jesus and that my body is a temple of the holy spirit so I have to act as such. Remember that you are made in God's image and likeness and that God is enthralled by your beauty. (Psalm 45:11) That beauty eminates from you so don't worry.... the people that need to notice you will!

Does having guys stare at you boost your confidence in
yourself?
Find another outlet at least for the guys sake - mabe they
are trying to avoid temptation as well!
Learn to know you are beautiful without it!
Be romantic with your soul mate that you get married to!
You can look nice though without being revealing.

I'm not a woman, but ask yourself this: why do you want strangers staring at you?

As a guy I never understood why a person would feel a need to sexually stimulate people that you have absolutely no interest in dating or marrying. Why do you need their attention? Your self-esteem should come from who you are, not from who you can manipulable into glancing at you for the moment (and then they forget about you the moment you are gone).

Just my thoughts.

Congratulations on losing that weight. You are more healthy now. That should make you happy for years to come when other people are having health problems and you are not.

First of all, congratulations on losing weight. Secondly, it may feel pleasant to have the attention of men, but it's not that great for your and their spiritual welfare. There are ways of dressing that show your new figure off without showing too much skin. If you want to have guys ogle your cleavage, it's your prerogative. Try not to bare too much at work, but away from there, dress as you please.

i am glad that you have lost wieght and feel good about yourself as you should dressing moderately is sexy,we must keep in mind that beauty is only skin deep and in the eyes of the beholder pretty is as pretty does and there is no reason to dress provocatively to prove your worth i am sure you are very pretty

1 Timothy 2:9-10, "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works."

It doesn't sound like you're a christian. I'm curious why you're asking for christian opinions?

You have a spirit of whoredomes and lust. Confess it as sin and ask God to cleanse you.

Modesty is a rare commodity today and any young woman who actually values herself recognizes that she is a creation of God and wants to be admired for more than her appearance.

Be careful what you ask for--the attention you seek will be from men (and women) whose values are as shallow, empty and as fleshly as your own.

The choice is yours---Do you want to choose to please the Lord of Heaven and Earth or men?

Wear what you like, as long as your midriff, clevage, bum and upper legs aren't showing. You don't want to look like someone out of Little House on the Prairie, do you?
