you know that soft part where your glands are...i just went on vacation and i always get swolen gland bc of the air condidtioning in hotels but i never notinced it being swolen my tthrot just hurt

i feel fine now and the lumps the size of the tip of my index finger

Most likely your lump is a lymph node and if you have an infection in your body, they are there to collect the infections so that your body doesn't suffer worse things. They are like a protector for the body. I would get it checked out by a doctor though because some infections can be bacterial and not viral and will need antibiotics to clear them up. Plus, just in case it isn't that, the doctor will be able to tell you.

Drink lots and lots of fluids, the old chicken soup standby will help you too here, with the hot fluids, and get plenty of rest! Feel better!

omg i recently went on holiday as well, i live in london and came back from corfu, but i only noticed i had something like what you described a few weeks after. I thought it was because i was doing a lot of handstands :S
