Energy drinks often contain a lot of caffeine and sugar. Caffeine is a drug and we know it can quickly become addictive, and there are withdrawl effects. Consuming energy drinks every day would be like eating candy bars and drinking coffee every day. They're not immediately harmful, but there can be many different gradual long term effects of having too much sugar/caffeine, especially if the rest of the diet is not healthy.

It really depends on how many you're drinking and what they contain. Most energy drinks are "powered" simply by large quantities of sugar and caffeine. Sugar gives only a temporary energy burst, and causes an insulin reaction which will leave a person feeling sleepy.
Caffeine can cause an increased heart rate, but in moderate amounts, it's not terrible for you. Bear in mind, though, it is addictive and over time you build up a tolerance, meaning you need to consume more to get the same effect.
So, all in all, if you are drinking one a day, you're probably not doing anything worse than consuming a bunch of empty calories. If you're drinking them by the case, well, it's probably not the best idea.

HI I recently read an article in the hospital that said although some caffiene is good for you a lot on a daily basis can be very bad here's why:
your body gets used to the dosage you give it daily and requires more through time to get that rush we crave and our body litterally crashes when itgoes into overdrive because caffiene doesn't signal to our brain that we have overdosed and therefore when we crash it's very bad on our body
over time it can quicken your heart beat and make it irregular like it did mine and my dad's and that can cause a lot of problems
it makes your body very jittery and unable to relax when your body is tired and you won't feel the signs of your body telling you this because the caffinene takes over our senses
coffee or caffiene also dehydrates the body and curbs our appetite so we eat less and not as often which also can play havoc on our bodies needs for fluids and nutrition over time it really can make simple body functions each day seem monumental
if you do drink caffine make sure you are aware of your threshold and drink 8- 11 glasses of water or some other kind of fluid your body needs to replenish what you took out by drinking caffine
the safest thing to do if you want energy is eat a lot of fruits and veggies and eat small meals a day loaded with nutrition
maybe a V8 or a smoothie or OJ etc...
hope this helps...

Alot of them have high caffeine content and high sugar content, neither is very good for you if you take it regularly. The caffeine can lead to heart irregularity and the sugar will possibly pre-dispose you to diabetes. Not a nice disease believe me.
Also with the sugar, it will give you a huge rush (presuming you are not already diabetic) followed shortly after by a crashing fall where you will get really shaky and sweaty until you have more sugar because when you get sugar in your blood your pancreas (if you are not diabetic) kicks in producing the insulin to deal with the sugar and might forget when to stop!!!
I would not take them daily. Ask your GP if you think you really need these drinks, you could be poorly or run down or something.

I have a gut feeling that in 10 or 20 years, people who are downing red bulls like water are going to have a lot of health issues.

If you aren't in poor health, and don't drink more than 1 or 2 a day, they are fine.
