Cause people like to follow the leader. I on the other hand follow the beat of my own drum!

I think the ONLY people that can accurately answer this question, as to why they believe what is written in the Bible, would be those that believe it. Alot of people cant possibly know why I believe in the Bible...but because they dont believe (& I assume feel threatened by my belief) they try to discredit God, Christians, & the Bible by saying we are scared children, we need a crutch, etc..none of which is true. The Christians I know are some of the strongest ppl I have ever met in my life. They have gone through unbelievable hardships and have come through them full of mercy, love, and compassion; now wanting to use their experiences to help others that are hurting or going through similar experiences.

Now to answer the question above: I believe what is written in the Bible because I have read it for myself, Im not one to just "follow a leader", and I have found it to be true. Many of its prophesies have already come to pass. It was written by many different writers, all inspired by God, and not one contradicts another. And dont you think its pretty amazing that the Bible is still such a huge focus in everyones life, whether they are a believer or not? That 2000 years later its still around. It has proven itself true through the course of time and years of attacks. It is powerful and can stand alone. God said His Word would last forever......and it has. I believe because Ive read it and it makes sense!!

Why not believe in it? There are so many things that came true already. You cannot deny that God and the bible is real because of that.

Those who deny are the ones who are just too closed-minded and blind, and they don't take time to look around them. If you would look around at the world and read between the lines, then you would see that alot of the bible is true.

Bible entries are a marvelous way for us to get an idea of what life was like during the time of Jesus. Many people as well as I strongly believe in God and Jesus.
I respect other peoples opinions but I have come to believe that Jesus DID exist, and that God STILL exists on earth. I believe that God guides us and allows us to make our own choices. For a while in my life, from the time I was 8 or 10, I studied science and considered myself pretty knowledgable in the overall aspects of it. Meaning archeology, astronomy, etc.
I see nothing in the universe that totally excludes those dtories in the Bible. And the things that i see everyday that definatevely proves it's thruth are all around me.

I used to believe in the endlessness of the cosmos and it used to make me feel empty inside. But now the universe is a smaller place and GOD is endless.
Trying to understand GOD with OUR brains is like trying to explain nuclear energy to a tadpole. Sure he'll listen but he'll score terribly on the test afterwards.
GOD BLESS!

People read the Bible and interpret the meaning in there own views. I believe its not the word of God but the words of past profits interpretations of how God would want us to live. The Bible has been rewritten and interpreted in so many ways.
I think when it comes time to meet o'er maker we will find that God is more forgiving than we could ever imagine.

Because it's God's word. A lot of it verifiable historical fact, a lot of it was prophecy, which has come to pass since it was written.

It was written by 80 different people over a period of over 100 years, yet is flows and it worded like one person (which would be God) wrote it.

And, in simplest terms, by faith. Christians have faith that every word is true... it's God's word, and he tells us how to live... and lets face it, it's a great way to live.

Who would have thought, through all the war's and fighting happening 2000 years ago that there would be a one-world government ruling over the earth.... yet, here we are in 2007 with the EU, the NAU being formed, and of course the UN... now the things in the book of Revelations, the book about the end times, coming to pass... what will come next is not pretty.

When God gave His laws to Moses, He also made it possible for Moses to do some miracles so that people would believe that he really talked with God.

And then Jesus did exactly what was written in the OT. He also referred to the OT as the Scripture and He did not change anything. He promised the New Testament.

I would recommend books like 'Case for Christ', Case for Creator' and 'Case for faith' by Lee Strobel.

"Because it is divinely inspired and has withstood hundreds of years of onslaughts from people trying to prove that it was wrong." says martin s.

BUT...

what would happen if you stripped away the power, wealth, bishops, priests, preachers etc and just sat down with the bible, on its own, no hidden secrets, no deceits, AND had all the information that the men in power have available to them, and THEN analysed it?

i think there would be some rather interesting revelations!

as to why people believe it, the other replies list numerous reasons i shall not repeat.

i personally do not agree, as i do not believe it, but i will not ridicule those who do, its up to each of us to decide our levels of understanding and beliefs, as long as i am not attacked for mine i wont attack others for theirs.

blessed be

Greetings in Love

"Why do people believe what's written in the bible?"

They believe just like other people believe in other holy books because their belief satisfies their question about their existence and the laws or guidelines of how to live life in decency suit them.

Religion is a ladder to reach God, The Eternal Truth. To believe is an act of surrender the mind to peace.

Peace.

If you need evidence, look at it. Like Noah's arc found up on top of the highest mountain. With the exact measurements as the Bible says it was made. ...
Then there are miracles that many of us experience that science could never explain. ...

I think people believe what's written in the bible for many reasons. My own conclusion is that they believe because they're afraid to question it- are taught it's the 'infallible word of God,' and that to hold it up to the light of fact is akin to the unforgivable sin. Fear is a powerful tool after all.
