I would have been dead of suicide long ago if it were not for the Episcopalian priest who came to my rescue. I might well have been dead of over-exposure if the Salvation Army had not given me a bed one cold night. These and many other acts of charity by people who never asked me to join with them as a condition of their help are a credit to the Christian religion.
I would not have made it through the last 25 years of this long, strange trip without the spiritual practices I shared with my dear friends, with the love of my life, and eventually internalized to the point where I could survive losing that love to suicide. Even now, I draw great comfort from the books, the symbols, the practices of my craft, my religion. I learned to meditate, I learned to trust my own good judgment, I learned to control myself, all through spiritual practices.

I count it all joy. I could not imagine walking through life without my Savior. It is fun watching Him teach me and train me. When I have bad times I know it is for my training and will not last long. Sometimes it is the small unspoken prayers that are real miracles. A butterfly, during the wrong time of year, landed on my arm and stayed a moment when I was very sad about something.Cheered me right up and I felt a warm presence of my Creator. God often uses nature to help ease the aching heart. Mmm

I agree,it is in short supply. Personally, it reminds me that there is a much, much greater power than anything here on Earth and humbles me to respect that. I don't know why so many people turn to it as a last resort when things aren't going so well. People should also be praying to give thanks for the things they have and when times are good. It gives me comfort to know that there is something I can to turn to at any time.

I find that religion has little to do with spirituality. Religion can be a means of control for those who run the show. Spirituality has more to do with personal belief and a true connection with God or whomever you connect with.

Sometimes religion and religious people make me laugh, if that counts?

Religion turned me into a creep.
Spirituality has made me very very agnostic, or rather "confused".
I stay away from religious-minded people.
