Actually, the word Allah (God) neither denotes masculine nor feminine gender. It simply means The God... and the He that is sometimes used to describe Him in English is used out of respect.

You can if you like.

Some religions like Hinduism celebrate the feminine aspect of God in their goddess figures ie Saraswati, Lakshmi and Parvati, the female consorts of the Hindu Trinity, Brahma Vishnu and Shiva.

I beleive that the idea of God as a Father Figure is all down to the Patriarchal, male value-dominated society we have lived in the for the past few thousand years. Many ancient cultures seem to have worshipped female attributes like fertilty and had Mother Goddesses.

Maybe a god has different aspects including male and female parts but because we need things explained in a certain way we see the different aspects of a god explained as either male or female. It is said that we are made in gods image but i don't know if it's as easy to think of a god to be made in our image i.e "gods a man!" No the goddess is a woman! Man, Woman, Man, Woman, chovenist, femenist. It seems like another topic for men and women to come to blows over. It would be nice if we just tried to get along and value each other for who each other are rather then trying to dominate each other.
my little rant :-)

God is neither a male nor a female. He is a spirit and has no body of His own.Spirits or souls are assumed to be males(positive). So that being the case God is a male.
Human beings as souls too are neither male nor female rather it is the role that we play in the drama that determines the garment we wear.
In most of the religions in the East, for instance, they consider God as male and female.
It is a question of choice.

God isn't a man and he isn't a woman.
God is something in our hearts. It's a feeling we get of tranquility. God is not the God we learn about....the God that made the land and sea. God isn't a punisher or destroyer. God is a spirit, God is love and hope. God is our free will. We can do what we want with it.....hurt other people or help them. God doesn't inted to do anything either. It is what is in our hearts that determens what we feel and how we look at God. I know i'm still 13 but its what i think and feel that makes the God i know.
=)

Why can,t we all get away from the religious programming that was forced on us when we were kids. I,m not betting on any god i cannot imagine death being anymore than nothingness. This is the only rational conclusion i can make out of life.

The Bible says that man was made in the image and glory of God and woman was made in the image and glory of man. A man was made of the dirt of the ground and a woman was made from the rib of man. Men and women will never be the same. Even a scientist looking at a male and female brain can tell them apart. Males and females are not clones of one another because we were made differently to fill different roles in life, to meld together as one. God wants husband's and wives to learn to be intimate with one another and learn the true meaning of agape love. Mmm

We can imagine god as anything we like. That's what god is - imaginary!

The Judeo-Christian god is based on the ancient fables of a primitive, agressively misogenistic culture, so their Jehovah god is definately masculine. Basically, man made god in his own image.

Who says you can't? You could call the deity that monotheistics believe in "Bob" or "Jane" for all it really matters. "God" is just another name, like Yahweh or Adonai. IMO, this deity is not male or female, but S/He is both masculine and feminine.
