Yup! That's the whole point!

There will be no more male callers, which is great if you have a situation like mine. A few weeks ago a HUGE german shepard jumped through the top window of my screen door, shattering the glass, just to get to my little 8 pound miniature dachshund! He had stuck around for 2 weeks before that, and NEVER left my yard!

Spaying your dog will greatly reduce health risks, like breast cancer and other deadly things. There's one, poly-something disease, where the dog's uterus fills with puss and if not immediately treated, she dies! Scary, huh?

And yes, no more bloodly mess twice a year. That's always a plus. Your doggie won't suffer from those intense moodswings either! My dog doesn't listen to a word I say when she's in heat, and she constantly humps my leg!

Spaying and neutering is the BEST way to go! Best wishes! xoxoxo

Yes. A Spay is another name for hysterectomy - in her case complete removal of the uterus and ovaries. No eggs, no uterus - no heat periods - no puppies.

Best done after around 6 months of age - but even older dogs do well.

She will stop getting periods and not go into heat as a result.

They take out the ovaries, I believe, as well as the vessels. In any case, they take out enough that she cannot get pregnant.

It's the basically the same as a woman having a hysterectormy. No periods = no pregnancy.

Yes ! We bred our dog just once and you know the hassles it can be , if your is not. Once she was spay never again did we need diapers or fight off male dogs .

Yes along with lessening her cancer risk and lengthing her life. It also makes their attitude more level as dogs in heat often get nasty or have false pregnancies which makes them a wee bit nutty.

Definitely! Getting her spayed would be the best thing you could do for her.
